LA SALLE UNIVERSITY - INTEGRATED SCHOOL

CHRISTIAN LIVING DEPARTMENT

SYLLABUS cum LEARNING MODULE
AY 2018 - 2019
Course Number CL 7 Course Title Christology: Jesus Christ, Human and Divine
The Grade 7 Christian Living course deals with Christology and a taste of Mariology on the last quarter. The first quarter is focused on
the humanity of Jesus with his life, his birth, his childhood days, his temptations concluded in his suffering and death. The second
Course Description quarter highlights Jesus’ divinity elucidated by the Incarnation, His baptism, His transfiguration and above all His resurrection. The third
quarter delves into his public ministry centered on his proclamation of God’s Kingdom, his healing and forgiving, in his teaching, in his
choice of the twelve apostles and his prayerful moments with the Father. These themes will be synthesized in the discussion on the
seven sacraments that would focus on the sacrament of Confirmation. The last quarter looks into some major themes in Mariology
such as, Mary chosen by God, Mary as full of grace, Mary as a woman of faith and Mary as our Mother.
(to be formulated based on the CL Framework - 5 Domains)
At the end of the course, the students will be able master the skills in naming their life experiences, reflecting on their life experience
Course Objectives with the Christian story and vision, integrating life-faith-life experience and responding to God’s invitation. It is hoped that in the
process, they may encounter Christ personally and somehow grow in the life of faith indicated by their assiduity to participate actively
in the ecclesial activities especially in the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This encounter would shape their way of
thinking, feeling and behaving as the words of St. Paul resonate in them, “it is no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me” (Gal.
2:20).
Prerequisite CL Contact Hours 3 meetings per week (50 minutes per Grading System Averaging

b. Gary, your best friend, always wins in the school oratorical contest even during his grade school days. In high school, he
was declared best speaker in Grades 7 and 8. When he reached grade 9, a transferee from another school defeated and
even led his friends in making fun of him.
c. Sonia, your seatmate in school, brags that she comes from a rich family. She claims that she buys her bags and shoes in
high-end malls and her family goes abroad for vacation. Through a distant relative, you find out that Sonia’s father is the
private driver of a very rich family and that her expensive shoes and bags are hand-me-downs from the children of the
rich family that employs her father. You are afraid that her friends will find out the truth about her soon and she will
definitely lose them.
d. The Ramirez family has been your neighbor for many years. They are very close to your family. When they went on a
vocation in their province the family figured in a vehicular accident which claimed the life of their two members. The
remaining members of the family blamed God for the tragedy and vowed never to go to Mass again.
