Barco Display Control Software
Display Control Software was designed for, and tested on, the display controllers ECU-xxx.
Display Control Software may also run on other hardware. There is, however, no warranty or support for such
case.

Provides replacement of covered failed hardware parts. If technical phone support determines that there is a hardware part failure or an
obvious malfunction and provides a return material authorization (RMA) number, a replacement part will be dispatched on the next busi-
ness day with economy shipment. It may take several days to reach you. Customs delays may further affect the actual delivery time in
certain regions. Once you receive the part, you will be required to return the failed part to Barco within 15 calendar days. Customer will
pay for the shipment to Barco, while Barco will pay for the shipment back to the customer.

gy used such as image retention, burn-in, vibrations, etc…
The warranty is void if serial numbers, warning labels or original seals are removed, changed or tampered
with.
During the warranty period, Barco will, at its sole discretion, repair (at Barco’s own or at a Barco certified ser-
vice center), or replace (using new or refurbished replacement parts) any defect within a reasonable period of
time and free of charge. The replaced product, parts and/or components shall become the property of Barco
and shall, at our request, be returned to Barco, otherwise invoiced.
Upon request of the customer Barco can send a service engineer onsite to repair the product. The travel time
and the travel and living expenses of the service engineer shall be payable by the customer in accordance
with Barco’s then applicable rates and procedures.
Barco will not pay shipping, insurance or transportation charges from you to us (Barco’s own or a Barco certi-
fied service center), or pay any import fees, duties and taxes.
To obtain the standard warranty service, return the product or part using the following procedures:
(i) Contact your Barco partner or Barco help desk in your country/region (visit Barco.com/ support) for
specific return and shipping information.
(ii) Label and ship the product to the address provided by Barco in your country/region. You shall pack
the products correctly in the original packaging so as to protect them from transport damage.
(iii) Place the necessary return material authorization number (RMA number) prominently on the out-
side of the box. Shipments not bearing a RMA number will be refused.
Please ensure that a backup of any customized data or configurations is made prior to returning the product
for repair/replacement. During the repair or replacement process products are reset to their factory configu-
rations and all customized data and configurations will be lost.
The remedies specified in this warranty document shall constitute the customer's sole and exclusive remedy
and Barco's sole and exclusive liability for Barco’s breach of the warranty hereunder.

1 Introduction

1.1.1 Numbering
Chapters are referred to as chapters; parts of chapters are referred to as sections.
Chapters, sections, pages, and figures are numbered individually.
Pages are numbered in Arabic numerals, except the title page (no number) and the table of contents,
which has Roman numerals.
Chapters and sections are written in “dot syntax”, e.g. 4.2.3.

Display Control allows you to organize the display of the wall controller and application windows locally on
the same machine, or from across a network on another machine.
You can use the application to interactively move, size, and position application windows and control ECU
windows by using the Windows Properties sheet. It also has a guide and grid function to aid the positioning of
windows.
Display Control permits to save specific wall layouts as .lay files, enabling them to be recalled when required.
Display Control also enables to save ECU windows as templates called presets. New instances of the saved
preset windows can be created in subsequent layouts. Presets can also be used with the split windows func-
tionality; this allows you to divide an ECU window into a set of sub-windows, each displaying a cropped por-
tion of the image in the original window.
There is an area of the application around the desktop where windows can be dragged, allowing them to be
manipulated without being displayed on the video wall.

The BIOS and boot messages will appear on the control screen that is plugged into the VGA/DVI output
socket on the SBC (S6) or (S4), resp.; cf. hardware manual, section ECU-200 rear or ECU-110 rear, resp.
The hardware user manuals can be found on the hard disk of your controller
(\Repository\Documentation), or downloaded from the secured Barco website
www.barco.com/mybarco.
• Setup will prompt you to adjust the language options. The following language packs are preinstalled:

• Next, specify the country and region, the time and currency, and the keyboard layout.
• Subsequently, personalize your software by entering the user name and the computer name, and setting
your password.
Hostname limitations:
Hostname labels may contain only the ASCII letters 'a' through 'z' (case-insensitive), the
digits '0' through '9', and the hyphen (-).
Hostname labels cannot begin or end with a hyphen.
No other symbols, punctuation characters, underscores, or blank spaces are permitted.
Avoid using only numerical characters or names consisting entirely of hexadecimal digits
('0' through '9' plus the letters 'A' through 'F').
Do not use names longer than 15 characters.
Do not start your computer name with a numerical character.

The Microsoft® Windows® product key is labeled on the inside of the controller's front
cover.
• Follow the instructions on screen to set up the display controller with specific regional settings (country,
time, currency, keyboard layout).

The ECU-xxx systems have been tested with the Windows version installed.
Any security updates and Microsoft® hotfixes bear a risk of negative impact on the
system's performance. Nevertheless, we recommend to activate automatic updates.

In Windows 7, Internet Explorer identifies a web site or share as in the Internet Zone if the IP address or the
fully qualified domain name contains a period. Therefore it is safe to add the IP address of the ECU-xxx to the
Trusted Sites to allow clients in the network to connect to the server using its IP address.

If connected accordingly, the dialog box shows the control screen as primary monitor (1) and the display wall
as secondary monitor (2).
• Make sure that all monitors are listed!
• Click Detect to trigger an update of the monitors detected in case a monitor is missing.

Always close all video window applications before executing an operation that modifies
the settings of any of the attached displays. Failure to do so may cause the machine to lock
up and require a reboot.
• Edit the settings on the Wall Configuration tab to meet your requirements.
Refresh Rate: Use the drop down arrow to select a refresh rate for the desktop. Only the re-
fresh rates available at the selected resolution and color depth are displayed.
The maximum settings are restricted to the capabilities of the screens connected
to the system.
Source of Mode: When the Wall Configuration tab is selected, the display driver reads the EDID
information from each monitor and reads the registry to find detailed display
timing information.
The Source of Mode group box shows the mode sources available for the se-
lected resolution and color depth.
Source of Mode has four options.
Default: Monitor timing information from the display driver’s in-
ternal tables.
Custom: Monitor timing information from the registry.
Monitor (Master): Monitor timing information from the monitor attached to
output 1 of the master ECU-4DPOUT is used for all outputs.
Monitor (Each): The monitor timing information from each monitor is used
for the output connected to that monitor.
No. Screens: Change the number of screens the display driver uses. We recommend installing
the driver (using install.exe) for all ECU-4DPOUT boards in your system.
Screen Arrangement: Use the drop-down menu to select the type of screen arrangement you require.
The illustration in the Monitor Configuration group box will reflect your choice.
Force DVI Output: When the display driver initializes, it reads the EDIDs of the attached screens to
determine if the DVI (digital) or analog outputs should be used. If no monitor
EDID is read, this control is used to decide which output to enable.
If the checkbox is in an indeterminate state, it signifies that the enabled outputs
are not as requested by the user. This will occur if a mixture of analog and digital
screens is used, or if the type of monitor used is different to the Force DVI state.
When the check box status is changed, the Apply button will become active.
Select Apply to force the required output.
Since the DVI (digital) output supports a pixel dot-clock frequency lower than the
analog output, the resolution dialog is updated when the check box is changed
to reflect the resolutions supported by the active output.
Prune Modes: Enabling this checkbox limits the resolutions displayed in the resolution box to
the ones supported by all of the screens connected to the active outputs of the
ECU-4DPOUT card. This information is read from the monitor EDIDs when the
Wall Configuration tab is opened. If the status of this checkbox is changed, the
resolution control will be updated.

• To start Display Control for the first time, and to run it on your local machine, click the Windows Start
button, and select All Programs | Display Control – My Computer.
To connect to another client when initially starting, click the Windows Start button, and select All
Programs | Display Control.
Once you have started Display Control for the first time, the link on the Start menu will reflect the starting
option last chosen (Display Control – My Computer or Display Control).
The following dialog is displayed:

The Machines list shows the Display Control servers that have been previously connected to.
The Layouts list shows the most recently used layout files.
• Double click to open the selected file.
For more details on how to connect to the server, refer to section Connecting the application to a specific
server.

Icons highlighted in green indicate that an active input of that type is present.
For example, in the Figure above, input 1 indicates that the DVI source is currently being captured. For inputs
3 and 4, the composite input is captured.
• Select Display Control from the Configure menu to capture the desktop and to display in the Display
Control application window.
• Use the Display Control application Toolbar to select a particular device or input:
The application Toolbar displays a list of the type of windows that can be opened, depending on the hard-
ware you have installed in your machine. Use the drop down menus to select the required inputs for display.
To open the required inputs, you can:
• Select the required input using the cursor and drag it to a preferred position on the wall.
• Double click the required input. The window will open, positioned at the top left of the display wall.

• Open multiple inputs by pressing the Shift key or the Ctrl key, and clicking the required number of inputs
with the mouse.
Using the Define Grid function, the windows can be placed at specific positions using a 3-pixel width snap-
to-grid functionality.

• With the ECU Window active, select the Alt key and the spacebar on the keyboard.
The following menu is displayed:
• Select the menu item Size. The cursor will change into a cross hair cursor displayed in the center of the
ECU Window:

• Use the cursor keys to move the window to the desired position.
• Use the command line interface window as described in section Command line interface.
• Access the Windows Properties dialog box by selecting the item Window Properties from the Windows
menu. Use the Move controls to reposition the window.

The dialog displays details of any errors found by the application when opening a layout.
• Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the displayed text.
• Select the Save As… button to save the information as a text file for later use, or to assist in support que-
ries.
• Select Save to save the current layout. If the layout has not been previously saved, i.e. it is a new layout,
the Save As… dialog is displayed.

• Browse to the folder where the layout is to be saved, enter a File name and click Save.
• Select Save As… to save the layout with a specific name to a particular location using the displayed dialog
box.
The Display Control offline layout editor allows layout files to be created and edited without physically dis-
playing any windows on the data wall. Display Control can be connected offline on either the server ma-
chine or a machine without any display wall hardware, for example a laptop.
An offline connection in Display Control is initiated by opening a configuration file. This file must have been
exported from a server machine (cf. Exporting a configuration), and will contain a snapshot of the hardware
and software configuration on that machine.
• Select Open Configuration to open a previously saved configuration file and the following dialog is dis-
played:

• Browse to, and select the required configuration file (.cfg) and the dialog is populated with the configu-
ration settings summary including the number of display devices, the resolution of the Display Control
display and a list of hardware contained within the system.

• Click on Open to initiate the offline connection. Once the configuration has loaded, Display Control
displays a representation of the machine that was used to export the configuration.
This function allows the user to import a Display Control configuration from a file. This may consist of a
backup file or a configuration that has been edited in the offline editor on another machine.
Import Configuration should only be used on configuration files that have been exported from the current
Display Control installation.
While this feature can be used to transfer settings between installations, care must be
taken to ensure that key hardware and software aspects of the configurations match. This
includes the topology and resolution of the display devices, the version of Display Control
and the list of capture cards installed.
• Select Import Configuration from the File menu and the following dialog is displayed:

Browse to, and select, the required configuration file (.cfg) and the dialog is populated with the configura-
tion settings summary including the number of display devices, the resolution of the Display Control display
and a list of hardware contained in the system. The dialog also contains options and a selection of compo-
nents for import.
Components to Import
The Components to import controls allow the user to select the set of components that will be imported.
Components available are:
Display Control - This includes most settings available under the Configure\Display Control menus and
also Screen Labels. Screen Labels can be imported from a backup but cannot be edited offline.
ECU - This consists of ECU input labels.
Application - This consists of all applications and their associated inputs.
Configuration Mismatch
The Configuration Mismatch dialog is displayed if key hardware and software components in the configura-
tion file being imported do not match the current system.
If the user chooses to ignore this warning and proceed with the import operation, the
Display Control configuration may be damaged and a re-installation required.
Once a configuration file has been successfully imported then the Rollback Configuration option (cf. Tools
menu (Accessing other tools)) can be used to restore Display Control to its previous configuration.

This function provides the ability to export the system configuration into a file. This file can be used in the
offline layout editor or as a backup, and can be imported to a non-server machine (e.g. laptop) via USB or
your network (cf. section Importing a configuration). This configuration file will contain a representation of
the hardware and software on the system. This includes: display and capture devices, screen and ECU labels,
the application configuration, the configuration and general Display Control settings.
When Export Configuration is selected, the machine that Display Control is currently connected to is used
to generate the configuration file.
The Export Configuration option can also be used while Display Control is connected offline to save any
changes made back into the configuration file. This modified configuration file can then be imported back
into the server machine.
The application can run on a local machine or an external client. Depending on this, the procedure to follow
is different (cf. section Connecting the application using a local client or Connecting the application using an
external client, resp.)

• Use this dialog box to specify which machine is to be controlled using the Display Control application:
• Use the drop down arrow to display a list of the most recently selected machines; the list will include My
Computer to be used to connect to the machine where the Display Control application is running.
• Use this dialog to specify the Windows settings:

2. Connect the external client to the Display Control application over the network. Therefore proceed as
follow:
• Select Connect… from the File menu and the following dialog is displayed:
• Use this dialog to specify which machine is to be controlled using the Display Control application
The user name and password must be for an account on the machine you are connecting to,
or on the domain if the machine is part of a domain.
If the error message below is displayed one of the following problems has occurred:

The user name, the password or the machine/domain that you have entered are not correct. Try entering
the details again.
If the machine you are connecting to is running Windows XP® Service Pack 2, and you have not entered
a password, you will need to change your account so that you have a password.
If the machine you are connecting to is running Windows XP®, and it is not participating in a domain, you
will need to change the Network Logon settings on the machine. Network Authentication.
You can create a shortcut on your desktop that specifies the machine and your user name. When you
double click this shortcut, it will take you straight to the Logon dialog for you to enter your password.

If Display Control is running on a server machine, selecting Work Offline… immediately opens an offline
connection using a snapshot of the current system configuration.
If Display Control is running on a non-server machine (i.e. an application-only install), selecting Work
Offline… displays the Open Configuration File dialog:
This allows the user to browse to, and select, a previously saved configuration file.
Once a file has been selected, an offline connection is opened. The offline connection will contain the text
My Computer - Offline in the title bar.
When Display Control is connected offline, the user is able to perform the majority of operations available on
an online system. This includes opening and positioning windows, changing window properties and inputs,

screen labels, saving layout files etc. Certain functionalities, such as Screen Order and the Remote
Command Line Interface are not available offline.
If an existing layout file is opened while offline, the machine name in the file will not be changed when it is re-
saved. If new layout files are created while offline, they will be saved with the machine name from the ma-
chine used to export the configuration file.
In addition to layout files, the offline editor allows the user to view and change the Display Control configura-
tion. This includes Display Control screen labels, capture input labels, models and applications. If any config-
uration changes are made while offline, they need to be imported back onto the Display Control server be-
fore they can be used.
• To exit the offline configuration select Disconnect… from the File menu.
The Disconnect… dialog on a server machine presents three options, the user can either import any changes
made to the configuration back onto the online system, save the amended configuration to a file for later use
or discard any changes made to the offline configuration:
On a non-server machine, the dialog displayed merely offers the option to save the changes made:

• To select a file, simply click it or press the corresponding number key on your keyboard.
If a file is selected that no longer exists, the file name will be automatically deleted.

When Preset Window… is selected from the New menu, the following dialog is displayed:
The New | Preset Windows… option will not be available unless an ECU card is installed and
preset windows have been previously saved.
• Use the drop down list to select the preferred preset window and click OK.
An ECU window with the same window settings, input properties, and on screen display that were saved as a
preset is created and displayed at the top left of the display.
When ECU Window… is selected from the New menu, the following dialog is displayed:

• Use the drop down list to select the preferred input and click OK.
A detailed description of the ECU Window menu options is given in section Window menu (Adapting the
Window menu options).
When Run Application is selected from the New menu, the Run Application dialog is displayed. The dialog
has two tabs, Run Application and Run Application with Input:
The Run Application with Input dialog allows the user to identify and select applications created in the
Application dialog on the Configure menu.
Application Use the Application drop down list to select the required application. The list will
only display those applications that have been configured on the system.
Input When the application has been selected, use the Input drop down list to select the
required input associated with the application.
Switches Once the application and input have been selected the Switches edit box is auto-
matically populated with the switches for that specific application.
Path Once the application and input have been selected the Path edit box is automatical-
ly populated with the path to the application.
Command The command line window displays the resulting command from the switches and
Line: path edit boxes. The command is executed by clicking the Run button.
A new input can be created by editing the Input drop down list. Type in the name of the new input and edit
the path or browse to a new file in the Path edit box. By clicking on the Run and Save button, the new input
will run and be saved on the system. The new input will be displayed in the input window in the Application
dialog on the Configure menu.
This dialogue cannot be used to modify and save an existing input.
Any modifications to the Switches edit box will result in the Run and Save button being disabled irrespective
of other changes made to any other controls on this dialogue.
With Run Application…, Display Control can launch any application. Unfortunately, each application works
in its own way so the exact outcome when you launch an application varies.
DGCPlay
DGCPlay is a utility that will play movie files including WMV, MPEG, and AVI, depending on the codecs in-
stalled on the system. Some media will require additional codecs not installed as standard components of

Windows .
• To activate the DGCPlay application, open Run Application… from the New menu by specifying
Dgcplay.exe as the target, followed by the command line options separated by spaces.
The Dgcplay.exe will be located in the Display Control folder.

Picture.exe
®
picture.exe is a utility that is used to display static pictures in any format supported by Windows , i.e. BMP,
JPG, PNG, etc.
• To activate the Picture application, open Run Application… from the New menu by specifying pic-
ture.exe as the target, followed by the command line options separated by spaces.
The picture.exe will be located in the Display Control folder.
Command line
• In the Run Application… dialog box, enter the full path of the Picture application,
e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Display Control\picture.exe
• In the command line box, enter the full path of the file, e.g.
–file=”C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures\koala.jpg” –xpos=0 –ypos=0 –
width=2800 –height=2100 –caption=”Title Bar Caption”
If the file name or path contains spaces, enclose the path in quotes.
RealVNC Viewer
When you run RealVNC Viewer, it will display a dialog asking you for a RealVNC server, and then display an-
other dialog box for a password for that server. You may not be able to respond to these dialogs.
Once a connection has been made using RealVNC Viewer, you can save the connection details to a configu-
ration file. The configuration file can be specified on the command line allowing RealVNC Viewer to run
without displaying any dialogs.

Microsoft PowerPoint®
• ®
To open a PowerPoint presentation as a slide show, use the following command line:
/s "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\presentation.ppt"
• If the presentation file name or path contains spaces, enclose the path in quotes.

For a slide show to continue cycling through the slides, the PowerPoint window must be
the active window.
® ®
Only one PowerPoint application can be running at a time. If you try to start PowerPoint
®
while it is already running, the second PowerPoint sends a message to the first and then
exits.
When a layout file is opened, ECU-xxx closes the windows and applications it is responsible
for, and then creates the windows specified in the layout file. The windows and applications
®
are sent messages to close them. The PowerPoint application is run to create a
®
PowerPoint window.
®
If the existing PowerPoint application has not finished closing by the time ECU-xxx tries to
®
open the new presentation, it is possible that a message to open a new PowerPoint
®
presentation and a message to close are sent to the existing PowerPoint application. The
®
result is that PowerPoint closes.
Internet Explorer®
• Use the option -nomerge in the command line box to facilitate successful Save and Load of Internet
®
Explorer windows via layout files.

The sensitivity value affects the distance that representation windows need to be moved in order to snap to
the nearest guide. The closer the sensitivity is to the maximum value 10, the stronger the snap effect.

ECU Properties
The ECU Window Properties sheet enables to change the appearance of the ECU Window.

The position of the selected ECU window can be adjusted to suit your requirements using the following con-
trols:
Using the up and down arrows, you can position the selected ECU
Window anywhere on the desktop. The values are in pixels.
The value Top = 0 and Left = 0 will position the ECU Window in the
top left corner of the desktop.
When the required values have been entered, select Apply and the
changes will take effect.
Size The size of the selected ECU window can be adjusted to suit your
requirements using the following controls:

Show menu bar Activate this checkbox to display the ECU Window menu bar.
To restore the menu bar, you can access the Window Properties
sheet by right clicking in the ECU Window and selecting Window
Properties from the menu. Show menu bar can then be selected.
Always on top If the Always on top option is selected, the windows will be displayed
in front of all others windows that are not always on top.

Cursor Always Show Always shows the cursor in the client area of the window
Always Hide Always hides the cursor in the client area of the window
Hide when win- Only hides the cursor in the client area of an active window. If the

You can use the Caption edit box to change the caption in the title
bar of the selected ECU Window.
Variables… The variables function is a means of displaying a changeable value on
the title bar.

This option allows you select the pixel format you wish use. The
Capture Format affects the performance of a system.
Automatic Select Automatic and the data is captured in the same pixel depth
as the desktop
5-5-5 or 5-6-5 If either of these options is selected, the format will be captured at 16
bit. For most systems this is by far the most efficient
8-8-8 If this option is selected then the format will be captured at 32 bit.

Deinterlace
The Capture Rate control gives a degree of control over the capture
rate by enabling you to select the percentage of frames to be cap-
tured from the source. 100% is the default capture rate.
For example:
If the refresh rate is 60 Hz, selecting a capture at 15% will capture a
maximum of 9 frames per second (FPS), selecting 10% will capture a
maximum of 6 FPS.
If a capture rate of 100% is selected, an attempt is made to capture as
many frames as possible. In this instance, the capture may be directed
to the buffer at the same time as the buffer is being displayed. This
can sometimes cause a single horizontal tear on moving images in
the ECU application window.
A different capture rate can be selected for when the ECU Window is
inactive. This enables system resources to be managed more effi-
ciently. Reducing the percentage of frames captured for an inactive
window will free more system resources for other tasks.
Select Capture at ___ when window is inactive, and use the drop
down menu to select the required capture rate for when the window
is inactive.

When this dialog is displayed, the application window is disabled, preventing other users from modifying or
closing it.
Size and Position The size and position of the window can be entered manually. The position values
refer to the top left corner of the desktop.
Style
The Style options can be used to alter the border style of the window. For example,
select the Border only option and the title bar will not be displayed, select the
No border or title bar and the application only is displayed.
The Show menu bar checkbox allows you to hide the menu bar.
If the Always on top checkbox is activated, the window is displayed in front of all
others windows that are not always on top.
Caption
Use the up/down arrows to select a required Window ID. The Window ID identifies
a window enabling it to be modified from the command line. See Command line
interface dialog.

Horizontal Posi- The Horizontal Position specifies the offset, in pixels, from the end

Horizontal Size The Horizontal Size specifies the total number of pixels used to
sample lines within the source. This includes the active portion of
video and blanking.
Phase If the captured image is noisy, it may be that the signal is being sam-
pled close to the transition between pixels. The Phase control allows
you alter the point at which the signal is sampled. You can think of it
as a fine horizontal position control. This control is not available
when Composite or S-Video is being captured.

Vertical Position The Vertical Position specifies the offset, in lines, from the end of the
vertical sync to the start of the active video. This control is not avail-
able when Composite or S-Video is being captured.
Black Level At the beginning of each line the source must be sampled to meas-
ure the black level. This sample is used as a reference for determin-
ing the brightness of the pixels on the line. The Black Level control
allows you to specify the position at which the black level of the
signal is sampled. This control is not available when Composite or S-
Video is being captured.
Video Standard Select the required video standard from those available in the drop
down menu. The video adjustment settings are not available when a
DVI source is being captured.
Color
Adjustments
Brightness The Brightness control allows you brighten or darken the capture.
Contrast The Contrast control allows you to alter the difference between the
light parts of the capture and the dark parts of the capture.
Color Domain This setting allows changing the default color domain in the rare
cases that the driver could not detect the right color domain of the
input.
Saturation The Saturation control allows you to increase or decrease the satu-
ration.
Hue The Hue control allows you to increase or decrease the hue. This is
only available for NTSC captures.
Color Balance… Select the Color Balance… button to change the color balance for
the specified input connector. This function is only available when
capturing analog sources.

The Color Balance dialog allows you to change the color balance
for an input connector.
All color controls are the only ones available when a DVI source is
being captured. The Red, Green and Blue controls are for RGB ana-
log only.
All controls in this dialog box are interactive so the changes you
make will be seen when the next frame of data is displayed in the
ECU Window.
All Colors The Brightness and Contrast controls alter the settings for all colors.
These are the same as the Brightness and Contrast controls on the
ECU Input Settings sheet.
Red The Red controls allow the brightness and contrast of the red part of
the ECU signal to be adjusted a small amount relative to the overall
brightness and contrast settings.
Green The Green controls allow the brightness and contrast of the green
part of the ECU signal to be adjusted a small amount relative to the
overall brightness and contrast settings.
Blue The Blue controls allow the brightness and contrast of the blue part
of the ECU signal to be adjusted a small amount relative to the over-
all brightness and contrast settings.
Reset The Reset button will set all the values to the default settings.
In the Display Control application, if a window has been minimized, an application icon will be displayed
in the application mini bar. Place the cursor over the application icon and right click the mouse button.
Select Input Settings… from the list of options.
Select Input Settings… with an Application Window activated.
The following dialog is displayed.
When this dialog is displayed, the Application Window is disabled, preventing other users from modifying or
closing it.
The dialog displays the application currently selected and the command line arguments (if any) associated
with the application.
Carousel Settings
The Carousel Settings sheet allows defining a number of inputs which the window will cycle through, per-
mitting to view each in turn. To define the inputs to use, create a Display List. All entries in the list can be
viewed for a specified period, and with different cropping rectangles. Once a Carousel Display List has been
created, starting the Carousel will cause the ECU window to automatically cycle through the list of inputs.
To configure the Carousel Properties for an ECU window, right click the active window, and select Carousel
Properties. The following dialog is displayed:

When the Carousel Settings dialog is displayed, the ECU window will be disabled, preventing other users
from modifying or closing it.
The Carousel Settings dialog features three group fields:

Input Selection
Using the Input drop-down menu, select the desired input source. You can adjust its
display time at intervals of one second using the Duration spin controls. The minimum
display time is one second and the maximum is one day. The default setting is one
minute.
Cropping
The cropping controls allow selecting a rectangular region of the input signal to be
displayed in the ECU window. The Top and Left controls specify the position of the
cropping rectangle referred to the top-left corner of the input signal. The Width and
Height controls specify the size of the cropping rectangle. The On radio button must
be selected for these values to be implemented. Selecting Off will ignore the cropping

Once the input, duration, and cropping have been set, select the Insert button to in-
clude the input in the Carousel Display List. The list will show the input label, the dura-
tion of the display, and the cropping details.
To remove an input from the display list, highlight the input, and select the Remove
button.
To change the display parameters, e.g. increase the duration, select the input from the
list, and amend the duration to the required time. Once the input has been changed,
make sure to select the Update button to update the list.
Note: Modifying the input will not affect the Display List until the Update button has
been activated.
When the list of displays has been compiled, you can change the order in which they
are displayed by highlighting the respective input and selecting the Up/Down arrows to
move the input up and down in the list.
By default, each input will be displayed for the specified duration regardless of a signal
being present. To prevent any disconnected inputs from being displayed in the ECU
Window, activate the checkbox Skip disconnected inputs. This will cause the
Carousel to advance to the next valid input automatically.
• Once the Carousel list has been defined, click Start to launch the display sequence.
While the Carousel is active, the Carousel Properties dialog will be disabled and the Start button will turn
into Stop. To stop the Carousel, select the Stop button. The dialog will be enabled.
While the Carousel is active, both the Carousel and Input Properties dialogs will be disabled.

The On Screen Display sheet allows you to configure the On Screen Display in the ECU Window. Any
changes made to the settings on the On Screen Display sheet take effect immediately.
If an ECU Window is opened without a source connected, any text entered in the On Screen Display dialog
window is not displayed until a source has been connected.

The alignment controls allow you to position the OSD within the
margins.
Vertical If you select Top, the top edge of the OSD will be displayed
against the top margin.
If you select Center, the center of the OSD will be positioned
half way between the top and bottom margins.
If you select Bottom, the bottom edge of the OSD will be dis-
played against the bottom margin.
Horizontal If you select Left, the left edge of the OSD will be positioned
against the left margin and each of the individual lines will be left
aligned.
If you select Center, the center of the OSD will be positioned
half way between the left and right margins and each of the indi-
vidual lines will be centered.
If you select Right, the right edge of the OSD will be posi-
tioned against the right margin and each of the individual lines
will be right aligned.

The Split into Sub-Windows dialog is used to divide an active ECU Window into sub-windows. Each sub-
window will display a cropped portion of the image that was shown in the original window. The sub-windows
will all be the same size and will occupy the same total screen size and position as the window that is being
split.
Once a window has been split, the sub-windows will replace the original window and the split operation can-
not be undone.
Cropping restrictions may result in pixel loss for certain input resolutions and split topologies.
The Split into Sub-Windows dialog box has the following groups:

The Split Windows group allows you to select the caption names and
preset filenames for the sub-windows. The preset filenames are used
to save each sub-window as an individual template called a preset.
These presets can subsequently be used in Display Control to create
an instance of the sub-window.
Window Num- The Window Number drop down list allows you to select a specific
ber sub-window. The Caption and Preset filename edit boxes may then
be used to set the desired caption and filename for the respective
sub-window. When All is selected, any changes to the Caption and
Preset filename edit boxes will be applied to all of the sub-windows.
Caption The Caption edit box is used to change the name in the title bar of
the selected ECU sub-window(s).
Preset filename The Preset filename edit box allows you to select the filename (with-
out suffix) that will be used to save the preset for the specific sub-
window selected in Window number. The preset filenames must be
unique with respect to each other. If the input variable is inserted into
the Preset filename for a specific sub-window, it will be substituted
with the name of the input itself before the preset is saved.
The Preset filename edit box will only be enabled if the Save as
preset-windows checkbox is selected.
Split Window
Options
The Split Window Options allow you to select whether existing ECU
Windows are closed or saved as presets when the window has been
split.
Close existing If selected, other displayed ECU Windows from the same input will
input windows automatically close when the window is split. ECU Windows from
other inputs are not affected.
By default, Close existing input windows is not selected.
Save as preset- If selected, then the sub-windows will be saved as Display Control
windows preset files when the window is split.
By default, Save as preset-window is selected.
Once all options have been selected, click OK to split into sub-
windows.
Preview The preview frame displays an image showing how the window will
look after it is split into sub-windows.

This option restores the current window. This option is only available when the window is minimized or max-
imized.

The selected window can be moved using the keyboard interface of the representation. This option is not
available when the window is minimized or maximized.

The size of the selected window can be changed using the keyboard interface of the representation. This
option is not available when the window is minimized or maximized.

Selecting this option minimizes the selected window and an icon representing the minimized window is dis-
played in the bottom left corner of the representation.

Selecting this option maximizes the window across the desktop of the target machine.

Select this option to close the selected window.
6.9.5.13 Windows
Selecting Windows… from the Window menu (cf. Window menu (Adapting the Window menu options)) dis-
plays the following dialog:
The Windows dialog displays a list of the windows being controlled by the Display Control application.
• If you click on a single window in the list, you can activate or close the window using the buttons.
• If you click on multiple windows with the Ctrl key held down, you can close the selected windows by
selecting the Close Window(s) button.
• Click OK to close this dialog.

Display Control Always on top This option, if selected forces the Display Control application
Application window on top of all other application windows.
Window
Save Layout Select Show dialog to show the Save Layout dialog in the
Dialog application. Select Always save layout and layout changes will
automatically be saved. When Never save layout is selected,
layout changes will never be saved.

Disconnect Dialog When Show dialog is selected, the Disconnect dialog is dis-
played in the application. When Always close windows is se-
lected, windows will be closed automatically. When Never
close windows is selected, windows will never be closed auto-
matically.
Display of Video/ The Display Control application can be configured to display a
Data Wall capture of the desktop within the application window.
Wire frame Select Wire frame to display a wire frame representation in the
Display Control application window.
Capture desk- Select Capture desktop and the desktop is displayed in the
top Display Control application window. The captured desktop is
refreshed approximately every second. Capturing the desktop
will use up more system resources than the wire frame display.
Show gaps Show gaps enables to display any desktop gaps you have cre-
ated on the captured desktop. This function is only available
when Capture desktop is selected.
Display of Control A non-Barco graphics card such as an on board graphics adapter
Screen can be used as a control screen for the Display Control applica-
tion. If this method is used, a representation of the control
screen is displayed in the Display Control application.
Display of Control Screen enables you to configure how the
control screen is displayed in the Display Control application
window.
Don’t show Select Don’t show and the control screen representation is
removed from the Display Control application window.
Wire frame Select Wire frame to display a wire frame representation in the
Display Control application window.
Capture desk- Select Capture desktop and the desktop of the control screen
top is captured and displayed in the in the Display Control applica-
tion window.
Alerts - Wire If it is not possible to display an ECU input, the area where the
Frame Only window is displayed in Display Control can be made to flash.
The reasons why a source cannot be displayed fall into two cat-
egories: no signal and error.
If NO SIGNAL is detected, the source has been disconnected or
switched off.
If an ERROR has occurred, one of the following has happened:
The signal is beyond the capabilities of the hardware.
There are no hardware resources available to display the
signal.
An error has occurred within the system.
You can switch the flashing of the windows on or off and change
the text that appears when the input cannot be displayed.
Language Select Use the dropdown arrow to select the required display language.

The Screen Order dialogue is used to configure the order in which screens appear on the desktop. This al-
lows the screen order to be changed without physically swapping any of the output cables between graphics
cards.
The top grid (green numbers) is a representation of the current screen order. The bottom grid (black num-
bers) shows the selectable output channels.
The Screen Order dialogue can be resized from the borders; this is particularly useful
on systems with a large number of screens.
To configure the Screen Order, the top grid in the dialogue (green numbers) needs to match the same order
as the numbers displayed on the video wall:
• Select any screen number in the bottom grid.
(The selected screen number will be highlighted with a red background. If the wrong screen number is
selected, simply select the required screen and the original selection is overwritten.)
• Select its place in the top grid.

The new screen order will not be applied until the Display Control server is rebooted.
Working example
You have a 2x2 screen video wall.

The Screen Labels dialog enables you to display labels on each screen within the Display Control application
window.
• To label the screens, click inside the label edit box in the screen representation on the left of the Screen
Labels dialog, and enter the desired label.
Once the labels have been entered, select OK.
Visibility Once your screen labels have been created you can use the Visibility control to show or
hide the labels in the Display Control application.
Alignment Use the Alignment control to position the Screen Labels within the Display Control appli-
cation; any changes to the alignment settings will affect the position of all the labels.
Background The Screen Labels are created as black text on a white background. The Background con-
trol enables you to choose to display the white background or not.
• To display the white background select Opaque, to remove the white background
select Transparent.
Layering The Layering control allows you to set the labels to display behind or in front of the win-
dow representations in the Display Control application.
The Server Application Manager shows the status of each of the server applications installed on the Display
Control server and allows them to be started, stopped, and configured.

Status The Status column indicates the status of each of the server applications.
Running Running indicates that the server application is running correctly. To stop
the server application, select the Stop button.
Stopped Stopped indicates that the server application is not running. To start the
server application, select the Start button. If the server application fails to
start, you will need to look in the application’s Event Viewer.
Error Error indicates that the server application is running but that it encountered
a problem that will prevent it from functioning correctly.
Select the Details button to see a message describing the problem. You
should correct the problem and start the server application again.
Configure…
Port Number The Port number describes the communication channel between the local
and remote machines.
A port conflict will occur if another application is using the same Port num-
ber.
Port Name The Port name describes the communication channel used when the ap-
plication and server are on the same machine.
Once the Port number or Port name has been configured, click OK to con-
tinue. The server application will need to be stopped and started again for
the changes to take effect.

6.9.7.5 ECU
When ECU… is selected the following dialog is displayed:
• Use the Configure ECU dialog to set up the labels for the ECU inputs.
Input Labels
• Select Add… to create a new label. The following dialog is displayed:
• Type the label in the Label edit box. The label can be up to 31 characters long with no leading or trailing
spaces. Only one label can be created for each input.
• Use the up/down arrows to select an ECU input.
• Select OK and the label will be added to the list of Input Labels in the Configure ECU dialog box.
The label will also be displayed in the list of available ECU sources on the Input Settings sheet.
Window Text
Use the Window Text controls to amend the text display in an ECU window when No Signal or Invalid Signal
is detected on the input.
EDID
Use the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) controls to edit the preferred modes of the EDID con-
tained on the ECU input. An EDID is a data structure provided by the ECU capture card to describe its capabil-
ities to a video source (e.g. graphics card or set-top box).
Inputs that contain only a configurable EDID appear on the input dropdown list.
For example, standard definition EDIDs are not configurable.
After selecting the appropriate input, use any of the following options:

Configure… button
Select the button Configure… to display the following Preferred Timings dialog for ECU inputs capable of
advertising an EDID:
The Preferred Timings dialog displays the resolution of the current mode for reference and allows the tim-
ings of the EDID preferred mode 1 and 2 to be edited. The dialog supports standard timing formulae such as:
VESA, CVT, CVT Reduced Blanking, SMPTE (for HD modes), VESA, GTF, and Custom. Selecting Auto from the
dropdown list will typically default to the VESA CVT algorithm which best matches typical standard VESA out-
put modes. However, to minimize dot clocks and hence maximize DVI cable lengths, the CVT Reduced
Blanking is recommended.
Selecting Custom from the dropdown list allows the timing parameters to be edited.
You will need to select between definition of Pixel Clock or Vertical Refresh since these
are mutually exclusive parameters.
Once edited, clicking OK writes the preferred mode into the input EDID but may not normally affect the input
mode that is being captured. It may be necessary to force the graphics device in the host machine to detect
the new modes. This can be done by selecting the button Detect on the display device’s Screen Resolution
dialog or rebooting the display device.
Reset button
Use the Reset button to restore the default EDID supplied when the card was purchased.

Import… button
Use the Import… button to import only the preferred timings from an existing EDID binary file.
Only the first two preferred blocks in the EDID will be imported.
Export… button
Use the Export… button to export the complete EDID binary file advertised on the ECU input.
Status
The control indicates the current status of the active server. While the Enabled checkbox is unchecked, then
the status will show Disconnected. When checked, the status will indicate a message that is specific to the
selected active server.
Status messages for COM Port Line Interpreter
When connected, the COM Port Line Interpreter displays the status Connected. Any other status message
will indicate a connection error.
Status messages for Telnet Command Line Interpreter
When enabled, the status will display Waiting for connections. Once a client has connected, then the status
will initially change to Waiting for client authorization. The status Client authorized will be shown once
either the client has sent the correct password or if no password is configured.

Monitor
The Monitor control displays each character as it is received by the active server. Each complete command is
shown on a separate line. If a command failed to execute, then an appropriate error message is displayed on
the line below. The Monitor control also shows any server specific status and error messages as commands
are received and processed.
Enabled
This checkbox will allow you to enable or disable the currently selected active server. Any changes made will
take effect when either the OK or Apply buttons are selected.
Active Server
The Active Server dropdown list shows the currently selected remote server. Only one of the servers in this
list can be active at a time. When the active server is changed, then the new server is initially set to the disa-
bled state.
The two servers that can be selected are the COM Port Command Line Interpreter and the Telnet Command
Line Interpreter, which are described below.
Button Settings…
The Settings… button opens the settings dialog for the currently selected active server. If any changes are
made to the settings, the active server will be restarted when the OK button is pressed. If the Cancel button is
pressed, no changes will be made to the settings.
COM Port Command Line Interpreter settings dialog

The COM Port Command Line Interpreter settings dialog allows you to configure the serial port connection
in order to match the configuration of the device with which you are communicating.
The Port control allows you to select the serial port that is to be used for the serial con-
Port nection. While all possible 255 ports are listed, not all of these ports may be installed or
available on the machine (cf. section Ports used by Display Control Software).
The Baud Rate control allows you to select the maximum rate at which the data is

transmitted through the serial port connection (in bits per second).
The Data Bits control allows you to specify the number of bits in each character that is

transmitted and received. It is recommended that this should be set to the value 8.
The Stop Bits control allows you to specify the number of bits in each character that
Stop Bits will be used by the receiving device to detect the end of a character and to resynchro-
nize the stream. It is recommended to set this value to 1.
The Parity control allows you to change the type of error checking that is used. It is

recommended that this value is set to None.
The three Flow Control check boxes DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, and XON/XOFF are
Flow Control used to change how the flow of data is controlled. It is recommended that only the
XON/XOFF checkbox is enabled.
This control allows the value returned by the operating system when an executable is

The Telnet Command Line Interpreter settings dialog allows you to configure the network port and configu-
ration settings for the server.

The Port control allows the network port that the Telnet Command Line Interpreter server listens on to be
changed. It is recommended that care should be taken to ensure that the selected port does not clash with a
port used by another program on the system. The default port is 23.
Password
The Password control allows a password of up to 23 characters to be set. This password must be sent by a
client to authorize the connection before any commands can be executed. The client must send the pass-

word to the server as a string in the same manner as a normal command. A carriage return character fol-
lowed by a line feed character is sent to mark the end of the password. If a client does not send the correct
password within 10 attempts, the Telnet Command Line Interpreter is automatically disabled. When the
Hide checkbox is enabled, all password characters are substituted with an asterisk (* character).
Options
If the Echo checkbox is enabled, each character sent by a client will be transmitted back to the client after
it is received by the server. If the character is sent during password authentication, it will be substituted for an
asterisk (*) character.
If the Acknowledge checkbox is enabled, the server will send a carriage return character followed by a line
feed character back to the client after each command has been executed. This allows clients to transmit
commands and then wait for the acknowledgement before closing the Telnet connection. This is especially
useful for clients that only send single commands at a time.

Select Application… from the Configure menu. The following dialog is displayed:
Application group
The Application group displays a list of all supported applications, including those that may not be installed
on this system. This list contains both supported applications that are preinstalled with Display Control and
also custom applications that may have been added by the user.
Checkbox
The checkbox for each application indicates if the application and its associated inputs are available in the
Display Control toolbar. Only applications detected on the system are enabled.

Applications
The Application name field shows the name of the application in question. If required, the user can change
the name by double clicking on the name. If a blank name is entered, the application name will be restored
back to its default value.
Path
The application pathname displays the full path to the executable file associated with the application. The
path is editable by double clicking on it. If an empty string is entered into the application pathname, it is re-
stored to its default value. If an executable file is entered that does not match the application, the application
is disabled.
Command line switches
The Command Line Switches field shows any command line arguments, excluding any input file/URL that is
required to launch the application. These switches can be edited by the user.
Add button
The Add button allows a new custom application to be added to Display Control. Select the Add button and
the Add Application dialog is displayed. Enter a unique application name and a valid path to add the new ap-
plication to the system.
Custom applications have restricted functionality and in some cases may exhibit
compatibility issues with Display Control.
Modify button
The settings for an application can be accessed by selecting the Modify button. This displays the Modify Ap-
plications dialog in which the name, path, and switches can be changed in order to override any default val-
ues for the application. These values can also be restored back to their default values by pressing the Default
button. Only preinstalled supported applications can be restored to their default values. For any applications
that have been added by the user, the Default button will be disabled.
Remove button
The Remove button allows a custom application to be removed from the list. Only custom applications cre-
ated using the Add button can be removed. The Remove button is disabled if a non-custom application is
selected.
Inputs group
The lower pane of the Configure Application dialog lists the inputs that have been configured for the selected
application.
Name
The name field shows the user defined name for the application input.
Path
The path field shows the user defined path for the application input. This may consist of either a file path or a
URL depending on the application. This path string will be appended to the string from the application’s
Command Line Switches field (if set) when the input is opened from the Display Control toolbar. The path
string will also be used when an input is changed for the application window that is already open (without the
Command Line Switches string). It is therefore important that the path string does not contain any command
line switches (e.g. –Input=). If switches are required, these should be entered separately into the Command
Line Switches field described above.

Add button
The Add button allows a new input to be added for the application that is currently selected. When the Add
button is selected, the Add Input dialog is displayed. A unique input name and valid pathname must be en-
tered in order to add a new input to the system.
Modify button
The settings for an input can be accessed by selecting the Modify button. This displays the Modify Input dia-
log in which the name and path can be changed.
Remove button
The Remove button allows a selected input to be removed from the list
Contents… Selecting Contents opens the online help files, displaying a contents tree containing all the
help topics associated with the Display Control application.
About… Selecting the About… option will display a dialog containing details of the version number
of the Display Control application.
The identical menu options are shown in a window on right-clicking inside the ECU Window.
This section only covers the File menu options; the other menu items are described in the paragraphs above
in this Manual.

The Health Monitor application monitors the temperatures and voltages of the CPU cores, graphics cards,
and the computer, and protects ECU-xxx from over-temperature and overvoltage. Should an overheating or
voltage surge be imminent within the system, the application will alert the user by means of a configurable
alarm. If the alarm situation is not resolved in time, ECU-xxx will perform an auto-shutdown.
The Health Monitor application is pre-installed on your system. The application icon is located in the system
tray on the taskbar.
7.1 Introduction
When running, the Health Monitor application can continuously display a transparent floating icon which
may be placed anywhere on the desktop by clicking the top of the icon and dragging it to the preferred posi-
tion.
Health Monitor will use the new position as default next time the application is run.
To open the Health Monitor application, click the center of the floating icon.
To view the Health Monitor menu, right click the Health Monitor icon in the System Tray:

7.4 Computer
The SBC installed in the system has temperature and voltage sensors, which enable the Health Monitor ap-
plication to monitor and display any increase or decrease in temperatures or surges in voltage.
The temperature monitor measures the overall temperature of the SBC provided by the SBC sensor.
The voltage monitor measures fluctuations in voltage on the SBC. Unlike the temperature monitor, the volt-
age monitor has a low and high threshold; therefore both a severe decrease and a severe increase in voltage
will trigger an alarm.

7.6 Alarms
Health Monitor allows you to configure three different types of alarms, to warn the user of an impending
problem.
Possible alarm types are Send Email, Onscreen and System Buzzer. Note that System
Buzzer in this context refers to the audio Line-Out of the SBC. A speaker or headset is not
part of the delivery.
Any combination of the three alerts can be selected by activating the relevant checkboxes. Once the type(s)
of alert has been selected, select the relevant Configure button and configure the alert process to suit your
requirements. Alarms can be selected and deselected anytime by clicking in the Active checkbox.
Seconds to buzz Use the Seconds to buzz slider to determine the period of time you would
like the buzzer to be audible, up to a maximum of five seconds.

Seconds of silence Use the Seconds of silence slider to determine the interval between the au-
dible buzzer, up to a maximum of five seconds.
Frequency (Hertz) Use the Frequency slider to determine the frequency of the audible alarm.
• Once configured, it is recommended that the System Buzzer alarm be tested to determine its suitability.
To test the buzzer alarm, select the button Test.
• When all settings have been configured and the alarm has been tested, click OK to save the settings and
return to the Alarms tab.
On some systems speaker sounds are directed through the on board audio device, in
which case you will be required to connect to an external speaker via the line out on the
motherboard.
Title Use the Title edit box to insert a default title to the email alert.
Email Recipients Use the Email Recipients edit box to insert the email address of all those you
wish to receive an alert via email. Up to a maximum of twenty email address-
es are permitted.
Content Use the Content group field to configure what information you wish to be
displayed in your email.
Red Only
Select Red Only and the email will contain information on which elements
have entered the red threshold and caused the system to shut down.
Red And Amber
Select Red and Amber and the email will contain information on which ele-
ments have entered the Amber and Red thresholds.

There are three types of on screen alarms available, which can be configured and used in any combination.
Flash the text Selecting Flash the text will configure the on screen alarm to flash from red to
white, indicating that a problem has occurred. The font of the text is default and

cannot be changed. However, the on screen display can be resized to suit your
requirements. Once the on screen alarm has been resized and positioned, the
setting will remain its default until it is again resized or repositioned.
Transparent Win- Selecting Transparent Window will configure the on screen text alarm to be
dow displayed in a transparent window on your desktop, thereby not totally obscuring
any active window.
Once configured, it is recommended that the On Screen alarm be tested to determine its suitability. To test
the on screen text alarm, select the button Test.

9.2.1 Product malfunction
Should you detect a malfunction of the technical product, immediately disconnect the power cord and con-
tact the Barco support (cf. section Contact).
9.2.2 ECU-200: Optional Windows® update for RAID controller must not be installed

After installation, several Windows updates are available—some important and some optional hardware relat-
ed. Do NOT install any optional update for the RAID controller, otherwise you will run into endless reboot!
In general, never update any drivers – if so, only use the versions stored on the User Guide & Tools DVD (ver-
sions are also mentioned in the Release Notes).

9.2.5 The remote procedure call failed and did not execute
This is displayed when trying to contact a server application that has been stopped after it had been connect-
ed to successfully. Go to the Server Application Manager dialog and start the server application again.
9.2.9 ECU-110: ECU-4HDPOUT not supported in 1st slot of 9-slot PCI Express backplane
Make sure not to insert the graphics card in the slot closest to the SBC! Such configuration is not supported
and may cause errors (such as the PCI Express link being dropped). The slot closest to the SBC is usually used
for the H-Link card in multi chassis solutions, and when only a single chassis is used, we recommend using
this slot for a capture card or other third party cards such as network, etc.

You can change the display language of Windows on the Control Panel | Region and Language on the
Keyboards and Languages tab. Some display languages are installed by default, while others require installing
additional language files via Internet connection.
Language packs are available in Windows 7 Ultimate through Windows Update as optional updates. They are

Windows user accounts to authenticate connections option.
• Once network access has been determined, click OK and reboot for the changes to be applied.
To use the administrative dialog, you must be a member of the Administrator Group.
• Locate all Display Control settings and ensure each one is active (has a green icon). The Profile should =
Domain, Enabled should = Yes and Action should = Allow.
• To unblock or allow a broken connection, double click on the specific inbound rule to open the
Properties dialog, and, on the General tab, select Allow the connection.
• Select Apply as shown in the following dialog:
• Once all the inbound rules have been established, ensure the network cable is plugged into your machine
and then reinstall Display Control.

9.5.1 Rebuilding an array in case an array member disk is reported missing or failed status
The icon of the IRST application in the system tray will show a caution sign:
• Open the application and check the status. In this example the disk on port 1 is reported missing.
Rebuilding a disk
The disk for rebuilding the array should be of the same size or larger than the initial disk.

9.10 Recovery
Included in the delivery volume is a recovery medium (USB), which contains the software and configuration
of the system as delivered. It is recommended to keep this medium in a safe place in order to reset the sys-
tem to the factory settings should the situation arise.
We strongly recommend that you consider creating a new system image with each
upgrade or modification to update the recovery information.
Using the Barco recovery USB will overwrite the system and restore it to its original
factory settings. All previously saved data will be erased.
Only use this recovery medium after an error or a crash, and when nothing else is helping!
• Make sure the controller is set to boot from USB in the BIOS! To enter the BIOS, hit Del while rebooting
the controller.
• To recover the system, insert the Barco recovery medium into the port and restart the system.
• When the system has booted, first accept the End User License Agreement.
