Intro Video: A Bug’s Life

Question: What is the goal of Christianity?

The goal is Christlikeness.

To be like Christ in the way that He had an intimate relationship with the Father while being led by the Holy Spirit. That’s
what it means to keep in step with the Spirit.

Our goal is not to accumulate all the knowledge and wisdom relating to becoming a Christian.

2 Corinthians 3:18 We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same
image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

1. Unveiled face – Hard hearts to hearts of flesh

2. Being transformed – gradual and continuous
3. Double work of the Spirit: Outside-in and inside out

2 Corinthinans 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has
come

There is only 1 process to undergo: Transformation and not:

1. Reformation – to improve by correcting faults

You are by your own effort trying to clean up your act. You are trying your best not to sin. You are trying to
build up a reputation so that they are convinced that you are a true and devout Christian.

2. Conforming – to be similar in a way that is accepted by others

You are going with the flow. You are chameleon in the crowd. You try to blend in with your new community
in the church. Those who try to be part of the crown usually get lost in the crowd. You are now doing it for
their approval and not for God’s. Illustration: Tuck-in :D

3. Transformation is lasting. It is a result of being in a relationship with God. It starts from the heart.

Question: Where do we start? Illustration: Jacob and Saul of Tarsus

TRUTH

John 8:31 …If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.

Hearing, holding to and knowing the truth brings freedom.

Discuss: Real Freedom (What makes you happy = What you are supposed to be doing)

You can only experience real freedom if you are changed by the Truth. Jesus is the living embodiment of all truth.
Everything that God wants to tell you is lived in the life of Jesus.

John 14:6…I am the way, and the truth and the life.
You cannot be transformed if you have not yet accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour.

The Spirit will help you to know Jesus more.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth. You shall meditate on it day and night that you may
be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have
good success.

You behold the glory of the Lord by reading the Bible.

Also listen to good preaching, attend services faithfully, read Christian literature, listen to good counsel in your victory
groups and to your leaders.

REPENTANCE

Repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of direction. You cannot change your heart. But you can change
your mind. You are in total control of your mind. God did not make you into a robot.

Discuss: Worldly grief vs. Godly grief

Romans 12:2…do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind

Change your mind about the word of God. The bible is the standard to live by. Accept the authority of the bible (money,
relationships, your neighbour..)

Fight what your heart is constantly telling your mind. Don’t follow your conscience. Fight it with the word of God.

Repentance involves turning from sin and turning to God. God will confront you. You will have the choice to turn.

Acts 3:9 Repent therefore and turn back…1Thessalonians 1:9 turned to God from idols

FAITH

But changing your mind would be easy compared to actually doing it that is why you move by faith. Romans 1:17…the
righteous shall live by faith

Discuss: Carrying your faith vs Faith in God

Faith is complete trust in God. Faith enables.

The power of faith rests on the reliability of the object of faith.

That is why you do not put your faith in Victory, in your pastors or leaders, in yourself. You put your faith in the hands of
God. No matter the size of your faith, God can make it work.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live
in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

At the end we look back to cross. That God’s work on the cross and his later resurrection implies that you are already
victorious.

The same power that raised Jesus is the same power that saved you and is the same power that transforms you.
