Strand Reference is defined as a preferred track of the Students most favorable

strand/track. It happens with the two mandatory two years (Grade 11 and 12) that added
to the High school curriculum which is referred as Senior High School. The Senior High
school level which offers a wide range of subjects from which students can choose a
program leading to college or university entrance of a career in Business or Industry
(Department of Education ND). This program is the track or strand that they deal with.
The curriculum offered two tracks or strands including Academic Strands that have four
strands namely as Accountancy and Business Management (ABM), Humanities and
Social Sciences (HUMMS), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(STEM). General Academic Strand (GAS). The second track/strand which also have
four strands under TVI, namely as Home Economics (HE), Information and
Communication Technology (ICT), Agricultural-Fishery (AFA) and Industrial Arts (IA).
This strand reference can bring your hands in having career opportunities. It is the way
to train your skills for you to be helped on college, and it also gains knowledge for your
future career. It affects the strand that the student choose when the students can't
decide what side he really wants. It is important to have a proper decision-making for
you not to make it hard which can reflect in your skills on your preferred track by
thinking deeply on what strand/track it would help you to manage your track with your
skills. According to Leonard (2009), Parents and teachers are highly influential on the
Students course selection decision. It concludes that most students are influenced by
the teachers and their parents in choosing their tracks which are not capable with their
skills that tend to having it hard for them to cope up. Students must-know their capable
skills, strengths, and weaknesses on choosing their track/strand. Students must focus
on their strands on their career that can help them in surpassing and achieving their
goals. It should have given importance on their strand they should know what does their
track/strand can help them, and they should have known their threats that they'll be
having when they don’t be serious about it. The things that it can bring their life in
having a high standard of living.
According to Department of Education they conducted the National Career Assessment
Examination (NCAE) to help students to decide what career they will pursue in college,
and what track/strand they should have chosen. It is a goal to evaluate their skills based
on the standardized examination. It can also provide the jobs that are suitable for the
students. Moreover, those strands/tracks that the (NCAE) which helped the student
decision are not capable aside from their skills but also with their grade due to the
schools that are having a passing grade for those strands like (STEM) strand. Most of
the students are having unlike strands that they don’t want to pursue on college. It can
affect the students perceptions that might change students minds when those second
preferred strand/track that they have chosen are been the most favorable course that
they'd be having an on college. In addition, those students who can't pass the required
grades that preferred by the school most of the students are deciding on the ABM
strand which may ruin their skills due with the unable to cope up with the strand/track.
Some students are not focused on their strand due to the lack of knowledge in their
second preferred strand/track. It is very hard for the students to cope up with their
preferred courses on college due to the unlike second preferred strand/track in Senior
High School. According to Pascua (2014), student’s first consideration in choosing
career path to pursue is the availability of work after college. Strand reference is very
important on the students in this era due on seeking their future working career that
gives the students achieve their goals. The decision-making of the students on the
strands may help them to surpass their aims and goals. Students are more confident to
achieve their goals with the stable salary, and a good company that they'll be having on
their future working career. On the other hand most students that have proper planning
and deciding on their strands may affect their goals on eager to achieve it. Those
negligent and careless students have a higher chance of failing their future career but
when you work hard for it and you really want to claim it may cause you of have a good
standard of living, and you can have a chance to surpass and achieve it. Sometimes
students are tended as lazy and careless due to the influence of their friends or
surrounding people. Losing chances on dealing or working hard for your career is a bad
and cruel thing to do. You want to meet your goals but you don’t make anything from it.
Do it and learn from it which it symbolizes yourself.

career. In our country it is well-known that we are one of the poorest of all of them, but
we can change it by the students who are capable with educated skill, and it needs to
know if this strand or track that they have chosen can help the society into a rich country
with the high quality products that many countries have liked. Moreover, the students
must-know their limitations as a learner they should have known if this strand would
help the community rich and having the wealth maximize for good of the people in the
Philippines. In knowing on what does your preferred strand can help the society and to
expand the living life, and the knowledge of the students, and the people. Is your strand
can give any contribution to society which having it a higher economic rate. According

indifference that involve career-relevant activities. Many students have likes and dislike
on their strand reference. Students must-know the capable with their skills and be able
to cope up with the things that should have and also to gain and train their knowledge
they will need in aiming your career. Those students who are influence by surrounding
people is the hardest part due to the incapable skills with the strand. These students
suffered in aiming the goals which can help them to surpass, and be successful in their
future life. Students train their strength to make it more useful. Students also must-know
their weaknesses so that they can be aware on the strand that are not capable with their
skill and to see the things that happen in life. In choosing strand reference it must have
a reason this track/strand are you going to choose. According to Alexander (2010), the
three most important motivators of students in choosing a career are good salary, stable
job, and low stress. This will encourage the students to study more and worker hard for
it for them to achieve their wants which make them be joyous. This may inspire the
students on achieving and aiming their dreams to help them receive new luck that is the
beginning point of their career. In being focused during their class hours which makes
the student learn new things, and not just being careless on the subject that has given.
It also gives them to find new strategies that can help them in building up their skills that
can be used on the strand/track that they have chosen. Taking your school seriously
may affect your whole future including the successful in school, it really matters due to
have opportunities on choosing your future career. Successful in school matters for
those students who want to start their life as a successor that competes and be a

place that the sit. Most of the students who are handling the money have an experience
for their future working career. The good way on choosing your preferred strand will be

new things. Students have different perspective the creativity that brings their mind into
a new level of a study or learning. Most students are tolerated by their friends on
studying which makes them to be careless or negligent that may affect their preferred
strand reference at it also reflects on their future working career. The students may also
develop knowledge through the skills on their strand reference.

strand it won’t be chosen by the students due to the toleration of other people around.
Most parents are just supporting their son/daughter on their school priority on deciding
on what strand/track they going to take it brings the students self-confidence due to the
supports that their parents give for those. Unlike other parents that they decide on what
track/strand is better for them but some students really not agreed with their parents
decision due to the freedom of wanting things for themselves to choose their preferred
track/strand that is capable with their skills and knowledge. It is the starting points was
some students planting anger from their parents which may cause on their relationship
to be repaired. The choosing of career tracks are playing a big role on Senior High
School students. These career tracks/strand are the basis of the students on deciding
what tracks/strand are their most favorable and preferred. Career preferences as
defined by Martinez and Fuller (1999) pertains to the identification of one’s work
schedules and activities in relation to individual’s abilities, skills, competencies and with
the assistance of management in order that he can take greater job and personal
responsibility for his future. Career preference is important for the students due to the
abilities of the students that may help the society sustain the poor needs of the people,
and our society that might bring down the economic rate of our country. In other words.
This is a preferred career choice of an an individual that should be decided ahead of
time to be easier for the students to choose on what strand/tracks that they are going to
take that is capable for their skills, abilities, and knowledge.
