Understanding the criticisms against the


citizenship (amendment) bill

Introduction
The Citizenship ( Amendment ) Bill is a pending bill ( recently
lapsed in Rajya Sabha but passed in Lok Sabha ) proposed by
the Govt. of India seeking to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955 to
grant Citizenship to the illegal migrants from certain minority
communities ( Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christian )
from Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan who faced
persecution. The bill focused on granting citizenship to those
migrants who came to India on or before 31st December, 2014

Objective of the study


The Purpose of this study is to explore and find out Why the
People of Assam (students) are opposing the Citizenship
(Amendment) Bill?

 In the Present scenario, People leaving in Assam is already


facing the burden of Illegal Migrants since Independence;
Will the Implementation of the Bill be an additional burden

will the people of Assam be Happy to accept them?
