Object: A comparative study of various solar power plants in Rajasthan: feasibility,

performance analysis, economic evaluation, losses analysis.

Work plan: The purpose of the work is to submit a detailed plan and process for setting
up of a grid connected solar power plants of various capacities at village sarah bhiyani
minnani, tehsil gajner, district Bikaner, Rajasthan at rays solar park under REC
mechanism under rajasthan solar policy 2011 and khimsar solar power plant, Nagaur,
Rajasthan under reliance. The solar power projects proposed in Rajasthan, because it is
one of the best suited locations in terms of higher annual direct normal isolation (DNI),
favorable climatic conditions and land availability. Feasibility Studies for Various Solar
Power Plants were undertaken to investigate solar power generation technologies,
identify an appropriate solar technology, and establish the economic viability of a solar
power facility. The feasibility study includes engineering studies, ongoing commercial
evaluation, financial modeling and environmental and planning studies.
The main aim of the work is to demonstrate my readiness and to submit a detailed plan
for setting up of a grid connected solar plant of various capacities at Rajasthan. I have
undertaken proposed land topographic surveys, analyzed the power evacuation options
and sought metrological data of Bikaner and Nagaur for the detailed System design
calculations. The proposeds are well suited for setting up of the SPV plant because of
high annual solar irradiation, plenty of land and grid facility available compared to other
states of India.
Simulation modeling and analysis is becoming increasingly popular as a technique for
improving or investigating process performance. Simulation has got a lot of applications
in today’s world scenario i.e. in the area of health care, computer and communication
system, manufacturing and material handling system, automobile industry, Logistics and
Transportation system, Service system, Military and Scheduling. Recent advances in
simulation methodologies, availability of software, and technical developments have
made simulation one of the most widely used and accepted tools in system analysis and
operation research. Hence market contains a continuously increasing number of
simulation software products.
If one is to design Solar PV system, then there will be separate simulation software for
corresponding task as par the requirement of the users. There are twelve major types of
softwares for simulating Solar PV System these are RETScreen, PV F-Chart, ESP-r,
SolarDesignTool, INSEL, TRNSYS, NREL Solar Advisor Model, PVSYST, SolarPro,
PV DesignPro-G, PV*SOL Expert, HOMER etc.
PVSYST tool is one of the most accepted design tool for the study, sizing, simulation and
data analysis of complete PV systems. To find out the performance of grid connected
solar photovoltaic power plant work in this research is to compare the parameters of plant
with the PVSYST software. It deals with grid-connected, stand-alone, pumping and DC-
grid (public transport) PV systems, and includes extensive meteorological readings and
PV systems components databases, as well as general solar energy tools. I have used this
tool to generate the most realistic energy yield simulation results which are detailed in the
work.
Main features of PVsyst:

 Detailed computation of the used components (modules, inverters, etc)

 Simulation on hourly basis and detailed evaluation and consideration of different loss
factors

 Calculation of arbitrary orientated module planes (fixed and tracking systems)

 Most accepted and used tool to generate simulation results for big PV power plants,
as the results are based on systematic and refined approach

 Program with the most accurate results and functions at the market

Results include several dozens of simulation variables, which may be displayed in

monthly, daily or hourly values, and even transferred to other software. The "Loss
Diagram" is particularly useful for identifying the weaknesses of the system design. An
engineer report may be printed for each simulation run, including all parameters used for
the simulation, and the main results.
A detailed economic evaluation can be performed using real component prices, any
additional costs and investment conditions. When a PV system is running and carefully
monitored, Measured data analysis permits the import of measured data (in almost any
ASCII format), to display tables and graphs of the actual performances, and to perform
close comparisons with the simulated variables. This gives a mean of analysing the real
running parameters of the system, and identify even very little misrunnings.
A viability analysis of grid-connected power plant taking metrological sites in Rajasthan
will be carried out. Renewable energy production and capacity factor will found
respectively to find the option of PV power plant and study is done to show that the
present PV technology is cost-effective option or not for the future. Studies will
conducted to find out possibilities of generating electrical energy taking different types of
solar PV power plants. Answers are found that why Solar PV electricity are suggested as
the viable solution for meeting future energy demands and Are solar PV systems are
liable substitute. It can be concluded that the PV power plant is a viable and feasible
option to meet the power requirement at present and in the future or not.
