A 1.5m high octagon concrete column, with 200 mm sides, stands in the middle of a pile cap 1, 60 m
long x 0,960 m wide x 0, 5 m deep which rests on TWO, 200 mm Ø concrete piles, 100 mm from the
sides of the pile cap, and placed centrally along the width of the pile cap.The octagonal reinforced
concrete column supports a cantilevered reinforced concrete slab 1.5m long to the left hand side
from the center of the column, which form part of balcony. A half brick face brick wall 12 courses
above the top of slab is built 15mm from the edge of the balcony and finished off with a mortar
plinth. To the right side of the octagonal column, the balcony slab extends 1m from the center of
the column. The balcony slab is supported by an edge beam, which also supports an upward
reinforced concrete staircase with 5 steps, having 175mm rise, 250 treads and 150m waist. The
staircase and balcony is finished off with un-tinted granolithic screed 20mm thick. Assume a 50mm
cover to all reinforcements for structural units below ground level and 30mm for all units above
ground level. Show at least 500 mm of the column and piles.
Draw to scale 1: 10, a vertical sectional front view through the piles, pile cap, octagon column, balcony,
and staircase to show the reinforcement and constructional details. The drawing must be fully labelled
and correctly steel coded to SANS standards. Use the following steel reinforcement specified:
