Iridium is a chemical element with the symbol Ir and atomic

number 77. A very hard, brittle, silvery-white transition metal of the platinum
group, iridium is the second-densest metal (after osmium) with a density
of 22.56 g/cm3 as defined by experimental X-ray crystallography.

Iridium was discovered in 1804 among insoluble impurities in
natural platinum. Smithson Tennant, the primary discoverer, named iridium
for the Greek goddess Iris, personification of the rainbow, because of the striking
and diverse colors of its salts. Iridium is one of the rarest elements in Earth's
crust, with annual production and consumption of only three tonnes.

Iridium is the most corrosion-resistant material known. It is used in special

alloys and forms an alloy with osmium, which is used for PEN TIPS and
COMPASS BEARINGS. It was used in making the standard METRE BAR, which
is an alloy of 90% platinum and 10% iridium. It is also used for the CONTACTS
IN SPARK PLUGS because of its high melting point and low reactivity.
Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from Latin: aurum)
and atomic number 79, making it one of the higher atomic number elements
that occur naturally. In its purest form, it is a bright, slightly reddish yellow,
dense, soft, malleable, and ductile metal. Chemically, gold is a transition
metal and a group 11 element. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements
and is solid under standard conditions.. .

Gold is also edible.
Chefs use them as ingredients in luxurious foods, mostly
desserts. Some premium alcoholic drinks also feature gold
flakes. For instance, there is the edible gold leaf. This edible
gold product used to decorate food, mostly desserts, and
sweets. Some even serve pizza and burger with edible gold.
