1. SCOPE :-

The procedure covers Pneumatic testing of complete equipment & reinforcement pads for
nozzles as per ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1, 2015 & General engineering specification for Heat
Exchanger.

2. STAGES COMPLETION :-

The pneumatic test shall be conducted on the items after completion of following stages.

(A) All required welding and dress-up is completed as per the fillet required.
(B) All welds have been dye-penetrant tested and accepted.
(C) PWHT if required.

3. PRESSURE GUAGE AND ACCESSORIES :-

i) The pressure gauge used in testing shall be of indicating type or recording type.

ii) Pressure gauge shall be affixed on a pressure chamber having suitable connections for
inlet, Outlets to RF pad Ø, for pressure release and pressure gauge.

iii) Dial indication pressure gauges used in testing shall be graduated over a range of about
double the Indented maximum test pressure but in no case shall be range be neither less
than 1.5 nor more than 4 times that pressure.

iv) All gauges shall be calibrated against a standard dead weight tester or a calibrated master
Gauge in NABL approved lab.

vi) At least 2 gauges shall be used for testing.

v) The pressure gauges shall be re-calibrated once in 12 months, Calibration certificate shall
be submitted.

4. TEST MEDIUM

Test medium shall be compressed dry air / N2

(A) All weld seams joints shall be cleaned by appropriate means.

(B) Connect the component to be tested (pads) to air compressor line though the tapped
hole with a suitable connector and pressure gauge.

(C) Test pressure shall be 1.5 Kg/cm ²(g) for RF pad and hold for at least 1 minute.

(D)Test pressure for complete equipment shall be as per approved drawing & hold for
minimum 30 min.

(E) Apply liquid soap solution over the entire weldment and check for any bubble.

(F) In case of any leakage, same be rectified and test shall be repeated.

(G)The pressure gauge shall be released and connections shall be removed.

(H) The inspection will be conducted under adequate lighting.

(I) Temperature maintained during testing 25-40 °C

5.ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA:-

No leaking shall be observed at any location.

6.DOCUMENT :-

Pneumatic test report shall be maintained.
