I. Objectives:
At the end of the session, students are able to;
a. identify prosodic features: stress, intonation and pauses serving as enemies of meaning
that may aid or interfere in the delivery of the message in stories and informative text;
b. use appropriate registers to suit the intended audience and variation in intonation and
stress for emphasis and contrast;
c. develop strategies for coping with unknown works and ambiguous sentence structure and
discourse.
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities

d. Review
B. Lesson Proper
a. Activity
Let the students’ view pictures that show who Afro- Asians are and test what
learners have learned after watching the pictures through an activity.
Let them choose a partner; give them time to brainstorm following the
guidelines and process questions that will be handing out.
Let them complete “My initial thoughts are”…….sheet.
Lastly, have them compare their inputs with class.
b. Analysis
Let them read out the following sentences that have provided. Aid them in
noticing the rise and fall of the voice along the line of sound- Intonation/
Inflection.
c. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss further the topic and correct misconceptions.
d. Application
The teacher will ask the students to list at least words which could be used as a
noun and a verb depending on how it is stressed.
IV. Evaluation
a. The teacher will give 5 words that can be used as a noun and a verb in a sentence and
let the students put the right stress of each word.

V. Assignment:
- Let the students look for at least 10 words that can be used as noun and a verb in a
sentence. And construct sentences using those words.
