So, you’re leading the discussion! You’ve got a fun and important job to do.

You’re
probably in charge of a group of children after the drama, as they move from place to place. You
may or may not have a scheduled time to sit and focus completely on these questions. That’s
okay! The questions in your guide are meant for you to use and keep in mind as you interact
with the children each night. They’re meant to help you know what the children are thinking and
feeling about the teaching, so that you can be better able to answer their questions and care for
them where they are.

While the kids are having fun playing games, making crafts, and eating snacks-
remember that these activities are secondary to the primary purpose of VBS- which is the
opportunity to connect with them on a deeper level. Don’t be afraid to ask these questions while
painting, waiting to wash hands, or tying a shoe. Be flexible about moving on to another activity
if you’re engaged in a fruitful discussion.

Remember that it’s not your job to convict them or persuade them of the truth- that’s
what the Holy Spirit does! In John 16:8, it says he “will convict the world concerning sin and
righteousness and judgement.” Our role is to speak truth, and the drama very clearly does that!
So what your role is… is to be a prayer warrior, and to follow up. Keep your children in prayer
throughout the week, and be available to listen and answer any questions that the kids may
have.
I’d like to encourage you to demonstrate how Christ cares for us by the way you are
caring for them. Don’t be like a pushy salesman who only cares about numbers. Get to know
each of the kids. Ask them about their worries, and then pray with them. Greet them
enthusiastically, and ask the Lord for patience and tenderness for them.

Remember: The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few! Luke 10:2
