Dear Friend,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The
Scripture says, "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun
a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"
(Philippians 1:6). All throughout the Bible we read of people blessed and
prospered when they serve the Lord. And we must never forget that it is the Lord
who works in us, both to will and to do of His good pleasure! I have found that
the Lord takes a personal interest in those who turn to Him and seek Him with
their whole hearts.
There is nothing more powerful in this world than the Word of God! The
Bible tells us that the Lord watches over His Word to perform it. In speaking
with my mother the other day, I remembered something that happened many
years ago. One morning my father left home to go to the machine shop he
worked at. When he arrived he saw that the shop was engulfed with flames (due
to an electrical fire). He returned home and told my mom. She said, "Go back to
work!" He said, "Really, the shop burned down!" The following day he returned
to collect his toolbox (or what was left of it). He found a hunk of metal, melted
by the heat. He took a crow bar and pried it open to see if there was anything
salvageable in it. All he found were burned papers and melted measuring
instruments. He pushed aside the charred papers and right in the middle of burnt
papers was a pocket New Testament, not a page singed by the fire! He was
shocked and said the Lord must have some things to tell him! The fiery trials of
life cannot burn God's Word. The floods cannot overflow His eternal Word.
There is nothing in this life that can quench the power and strength of the Word
of God. People have tried to destroy His Word. They have tried to change it
down through the years. People have tried to water it down, but it is still settled
in the heavens! Men did not give us the Word of God: the Lord Himself gave us
His Word in the beginning. We sell ourselves short by not embracing the truths
of God's eternal Word! His Word calms the storms of life, even today. God's
Word breaks addictions in our lives, those things that are impossible to
overcome. God's Word has power to change wayward thoughts and evil actions,
and causes the believer to overcome all those things.
 "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." The apostle Paul
had a settled peace in his heart, knowing that the Lord who began a good work
in those who followed his teachings would have fulfillment in God's purpose and
destiny for their lives. Even if the path held some sufferings, the way would be
filled with victories. Just because you are in the midst of trouble, trials, battles,
or even discouragements, fear not! I, too, am persuaded that He who began a
good work in you will still perform it until the day of Jesus Christ! It is
wonderful to know that there is Someone who has confidence in each of us! The
Bible says, "Through God we shall do valiantly: for He it is that shall tread
down our enemies" (Psalm 60:12). Everything that keeps you from knowing
the Lord, serving His kingdom, and living an overcoming life, is an enemy to
your soul. His Word has the power and authority to tread down or trample that
thing that besets your faith. Be encouraged today: the Lord Jesus overcame all
those things so we can be overcomers as well!
