Call for Presentations

    Asia TEFL 2019 is a collaboration between Asia TEFL and the Language Institute of Thammasat University
(LITU), Thailand. It is an international platform for English language teaching (ELT) specialists and enthusiasts
to share ideas and thoughts on professional collaborations or synergies across disciplines and multilingual
ambiences. New and contemporary approaches of multilingualism in ELT and TEFL are welcome and
embraced in light of the evolving concepts of world Englishes.

Presentation types

1. Paper presentation: a 30-minute oral presentation (25 minutes for an oral presentation and 5 minutes
for Q&A.
2. Poster presentation: a 60-minute session. Poster presenters must provide an A0-sized poster
(approximately 841 x 1189 mm or 33.1 x 66.8 in) to be displayed in a provided area. The presenters
present at a designated time and discuss their work with conference participants.
3. ReN symposium: a 60-minute symposium for an Asia TEFL Research Network (ReN) to discuss a topic
of interest. There can be as many as 3 speakers in each symposium.

All presentations are to be given in English.

Presentation Topics

Abstracts on the following topics are warmly welcomed:

1. Language planning and language policy


2. Methodologies and teaching approaches
3. Curriculum, syllabus design and materials design
4. Assessment and evaluation
5. Second language acquisition and literacy development
6. English for academic/specific purposes
7. Teacher education and professional development
8. Programme management and leadership development
9. Digital literacies/language learning and technology
10. Intercultural communication and global competencies
11. Pluralingualism, translanguaging and multilingual education
12. World Englishes/English as a lingua franca
13. Identity and learner autonomy
14. Discourse/genre analysis
15. Creativity and critical literacies
16. Teaching younger learners

Remarks: ReN symposiums can also cover other topics related to applied linguistics or English language
teaching.

March 30, 2019: Notification of Acceptance
April 1 - 30, 2019: Early-bird Registration
May 1 - 31, 2019: Regular Registration
June 27 - June 29, 2018: The Conference
