Duties of Society Towards Education
1. Establishment of Schools The prime duty to establish schools, appointing trained teachers and providing financial assistance to all schools is the first duty of society. 2. Provision of Vocational Education Second duty of society is the provision of vocational, technical, professional, agricultural and other types of education for all children to develop themselves according to their interest, aptitude, and inherent capabilities to the fullest extent and contribute effectively to the progress and prosperity to society. 3. Establishment of Libraries The mental progress and development of individuals, establish and maintain more and more reading room and libraries where newspapers and magazines and all types are available to educate the readers in national and international trends and affairs. 4. Building gymnasium Society should provide adequate physical education through lectures, gymnasium, games and sports to all children, young men and adult. 5. Provision of Academic and Cultural Education To promote the cultural and academic development of individual through proper education. However, academic and cultural functions together with conferences should also be organized frequently to archive these purposes. 6. Provision of Adult Education Societies provide towards their grown- up adult who could not receive any education in their early and middle ages of life. 7. Enlisting Co-operation of Other Agencies All agencies in organizing its educational programs, policies and procedures. The family, the church, the school, the community and other formal together with informal agencies should be inspired to co-operate with the educational efforts and activities in all aspects and in all fields of growth and development.
DUTIES OF EDUCATION TOWARDS SOCIETY
1. Preservation of Culture and Civilization
Primary duty of education towards society is to preserve its culture and civilization. 2. Maintenance of Culture and Civilization Education is not only impart knowledge of these culture excellences and achievements of civilization, but it should see that these values become part of the behavior patterns of the individuals. 3. Development of Culture and Civilization of Society Education should not only preserve and maintain but also develop more and more the cultural heritage and civilization achievements of society. If education fails to perform this important duty, society will become static and may stagnate. 4. Fulfilment of Social Need Education should fulfill the needs and meet the requirements of society. It may be remembered well that the needs of society change with the changing times, circumstances and situations. 5. In Curriculum The fifth duty of education is to formulate a curriculum suited to the modern needs of society. Without the suitable and effective curriculum, education will fail in its duty of developing individuals to face the challenges of life and solve the emerging problems with courage boldness, fortitude and conviction. 6. Development of Constructive Powers The six important duty of education is to promote and develop more and more the creative and constructive faculties of individuals. Only then they will be able to develop their personalities in a harmonious manner and contribute towards the development of society bring national welfare.
