To find the relation between the vertical height and the range of the ball.
Hypothesis:
If the vertical height of the slope from which the ball is dropped increases then the horizontal
displacement of the ball also increases as the ball gains more velocity, causing more horizontal
displacement.
Variables
Independent Height As we change the vertical height from
which the ball starts to roll
Dependent Range As the Range increases as the height
increases, it is dependent on the height
Controlled mass of the ball If the mass would change it would make an
unfair experiments and there will not be
accurate results.

Height
The first graph shows the relation between Height and range which was not linear as all the
points are not on the line of best fit and neither does it pass through the origin, however the
second graph in which we squared the range vs height we got a linear graph but it still did not
As my aim was “To find the relation between the vertical height and the range of the ball”, we
found out the relation to be that the square of range is directly proportional to the height of
incline. (R2 H) where R= range and H= height. Also, my hypothesis was “If the vertical height
of the slope from which the ball is dropped increases then the horizontal displacement of the ball
also increases as the ball gains more velocity, causing more horizontal displacement”, and this
was proven to be true as when we increased the incline height the range also increased, as shown
in the graph.

There could be many errors in the experiment as this was mostly conducted manually, there
could be random errors in the readings, there could be systematic error as the stopwatch might
not be working properly, or there could be parallax error, as we might have read the wrong
