HIGH SCHOOL:
TEACHING & LEARNING:
● To the staff that has been hard at work in their classrooms outside of the contracted school year!
● To the Graham Students that had a successful fair season! Graham has a strong presence at the fair
and had many winners throughout the week.
● The smooth transition of Mr. Curtis back into the role of Superintendent at GLS.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:
● Thank you to Lori Black for leading a Balanced Literacy PD session at the beginning of the month for
new Elementary and Middle school teachers. She continues to show how great of an asset she is to her
peers, school, and district.
● Congratulations to all our students who had projects at the Champaign County Fair. Your hard work
and dedication does not go unnoticed
● Many staff are in and out of the building prepping for an exciting school year upcoming
● Thanks Doug and Steve for all your work on our outdoor learning spaces (downing trees, pulling dead
shrubs, helping with greenhouse, etc…)
● Thank you Carrie Draper for all her work to get technology updates accomplished this summer. Also a
special shout-out to GHS student Ethan Daubenspeck for volunteering his time to assist Carrie.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
● GES would like to thank Melissa Erter for all of her guidance with our students and wish her continued
success as the GMS guidance counselor!
● Congratulations to all our students who had projects at the Champaign County fair. Your hard work
and dedication does not go unnoticed
● GES staff have been in the building preparing for our students arrival - thank you!
● Leader In Me Environment Team - is working to get the “LIM Street Signs” put up at each POD and our
Leadership Starts Here signs for outside- special thanks to Tyler Jacobs for creating and making the
street signs, Kate Turner for printing the vinyl lettering and Mindy Heaston for
● Thank you to maintenance for working in the land lab to help keep the area clean and safe.
● Thank you to our custodial team - our building looks great and is getting ready for the 1st day with
students.
● August 19 will be the first GES Back To School Bash for students - a variety of activities are planned -
flyer was sent home at end of year and is on GES Facebook, Twitter and Website.

IX ADMINISTRATIVE AGENDA ITEMS A through D:


A. The Superintendent recommends the board approve the 2019-2020 handbooks for Preschool and
Graham Elementary School.
B. The Superintendent recommends the reinstatement of one building secretary position. This position
was eliminated at the June 24, 2019 meeting. This reinstatement is made financially possible due to
the district not needing to fill a one on one paraprofessional aide position.
C. The Superintendent recommends the board eliminate the Literacy Coach position at Graham Middle
School
D. The Superintendent recommends the board to review for the first reading
Policy 2413 – Career Advising.
