Abstract

NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamilnadu hereby makes the following rules;
The rules hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 16th May,
1968.
RULES
The General and Special Rules applicable to the holders of the permanent posts in
class II of the Tamilnadu Genera; subordinate Officer in the Government Museum,
Madras subject to the modification specified in the following rules.
2. Constitution:- The post shall constitute a distinct category in the said class of the said
service.
4. Appointing authority:- The appointing authority for the post shall be the
Director of Museum, Government Museum, Madras.
5. Qualifications:- (a) Age- No person shall be eligible for appointment to the post
by direct recruitment, if he has completed or will complete 30 years of age on
the first day of July of the year in which the selection for appointment is made.
(b) Other qualification:- No person shall be eligible for appointment to the
post by the method specified in column (1) of the Table below unless he
possesses the Qualification prescribed in the corresponding entries in
column (2) thereof

India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following rules:-
The rules hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 29th
June 1981.
RULES
The General and the Special Rules applicable to the holders of the permanents posts in
class II of the Tamil Nadu General Subordinate Service shall apply to the holders of the
temporary posts of Assistant Curator, Gallery Guide and Craftsman sanctioned from time
to time in children Museum, Madras, subject to the modification specified in the
following rules:-
2. Constitution: The posts shall each constitute a distinct category in the said Class
of the said Service.
3. Appointment: Appointment to the posts shall be made-
(a) other Qualification: No person shall be eligible for appointment to the posts
possesses the qualification specified in the corresponding entries in column (3)
thereof
THE TABLE
6. Probation: Every person appointed to the posts by direct recruitment shall from
the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on
duty within a continuous period of three years.
7. Pay: The shall be paid to the holders of the posts a monthly pay calculated in the
scale of Rs.400-15-490-20-650-25-700 and provided that with effect on and from
the 1st October 1984 the monthly shall be calculated in the scale of pay Rs.705-
20-745-25-845-35-1230.

In exercise of the power conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the
special rules for the Tamil Nadu General Service (Section 16 in Volume II of the Madras
Services Manual, 1969).
The amendments hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st June
1960.
AMENDMENTS.
I. In part I, for the relating to class XI, the following entries shall be substituted,
namely:-

RULES – Tamil Nadu General Subordinate Service – Class II – Assistant Curator (Zoology)
Section) in the Government Museum at Madras – Amendment to Special Rules – Proposals of the
Director of Museum, Madras – Approved.
ORDER:
In this letter read above, the Director of Museum has Stated that in addition to the
Qualifications prescribed in the Special Rules for the post of Assistant Curator, Zoology Section,
Government Museum, Madras, the following qualifications are also considered to be of practical
use for the work in the section:-
(1) Must possess skill in pencil drawing, mainly to draw specimens of the animal Kingdom.
(2) A knowledge of Zoological preservation techniques including taxidermy will be
preferable
The Director of Museum has submitted proposals for issue of amendments to the special Rules in
respect of the post of Assistant Curator (Zoology Section) in the Government Museum, Madras.
2. In the circumstances stated by the Director of Museums, the Government approve his
proposal to prescribed additional qualification as indicted in para 1 above for the post of
Assistant Curator, in the Government Museum, Madras and to issue necessary
amendments to the special Rules.
3. Necessary amendments to the special Rules for Class II of Tamil Nadu General
Subordinate Service will be issued separately.

In the Special Rules, in part II, under class II, in the Annexure, for entry 3 in column (3)
against the method of appointment “Direct Recruitment in column (2) and the Category” 2
Assistant Curators and Assistant Curator for National Art Gallery and Gallery Guides” in column
(1), the following entry shall be substituted, namely:-
In the case of Assistant Curator attached to the Zoology Section, must possess-
(a) A Bachelor’s degree in Zoology with Botany and either Chemistry or Geology as
subsidiary subject;
(b) Skill in pencil drawing mainly to draw specimens of the animal kingdom

RULE
The General and special Rules applicable to the holders of the permanent posts in
class II of the Madras Gender Subordinate Service shall apply to the holders of the
temporary posts of the compositor, Senior Machine Minder and Layer on the
Government Museum, Madras, sanctioned in G.O.Ms. No. 1383 Education, dated the 8th
June 1961, subject to the modifications specified in the following rules.
4 Appointing authority:- The appointing authority for the posts shall be the
Director of Museum, Madras and Association Librarian, Connemara
Public Library Madras.

(i) Hand Compositor (a) Must have passed III Form or Eighth
standard or S.S.L.C. Public Examination in a
recognised school;
(b) Must possess a minimum hand setting
speed of 1000 corrected one per hour including
distribution; and

experience in all kinds of linking up, imposing
and display work.
(ii) Senior Machine Hinder (a) Must have passed III form or Eighth

ORDER:
In G.O. Ms. No. 640, Education, dated 5.4.80 the Government have created one
cost of Curator (Display and Design Section). Cabinet Maker, Painter/polisher and
Draftsman in the Government Museum. Madras. The Director of Museums has
submitted draft adhoc rules for the above posts. The Government approve the adhoc
rules submitted by the Director of Museums.

Rule 2(b) of the Special Rules for Class-XXII of Tamil Nadu General Subordinate
Service applicable to the post of Record Clerk Provides as follows:-
2. While examining this issue, it was also considered to provide for direct
recruitment for appointment on compassionate grounds in the Special
Rules. Now the compassionate grounds appointments to the post of
Record Clerk is being made every time in each individual case, relaxing
rules 2(b) of the Special Rules for Class XXII, Tamil Nadu General
Subordinate Service, as it does not provide for direct recruitment. To
avoid such relaxation of rules, it has been decided to amand the Special
Rules suitably.

The following Notification will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette:-
NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India,
the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the adho rules published
with the Tamil Development Culture Department Notification S.R.O.15/90, at page 6 of part III
section 1(b) of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 3rd January 1990.
2. The amendment hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 3rd January
1990.
AMENDMENT
In the said Rules, in the Table Under sub-rule(b) of rule 5 in the entry in column (2)
Against the entry “By promotion from the category of Assistant Curators” in column (1)
thereof the word “and Knowledge of Art History “ occurring at the end shall be omitted.

NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of
India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes to following amendment to the special
Rules for the Tamil Nadu General Subordinate Service (Section 13 in volume III of the
Tamil Nadu Service Manual, 1970).
2. The amendment hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 18th
December 1986.
AMENDMENT
In the said Special Rules, in part II, under the heading “CLASS II – GOVERNMENT
MUSEUMS”, in the ANNEXUR to sub-rule (b) of rule 4, for item (V) in column (3),
against the entry “2. Assistant Curators and Assistant Curator for National Art Gallery
and Gallery Guide” in column (1) thereof, the following item shall be substituted,
namely:-
“ (V). In the case of Assistant Curator attached to National Art Gallery (formerly Official
Art Gallery National Art Gallery) must possess a degree in History. Other things being
equal, preference shall be given to candidates who possess., in addition, a diploma in Fine
Arts and Knowledge of Art History”.
