1) A random sample of size 125 is collected and the following is determined:

confidence level of 95%. Find the confidence interval ?

3) Deck of cards has 52 cards and we draw 2 kings from the deck. What is probability or chance of
getting 2 kings consecutively

4) Suppose we want to estimate the mean number of hours that all PA college students spend on
their MAT260 homework. We don’t know the actual mean, but from previous studies. We have
concluded that the standard deviation of all hours spent on homework was 3.2.The sample size
of 32 is Create a 95% confidence interval to estimate the average for all students at PA college.

5) A women’s group in a college complained that female staff are being discriminated while
awarding promotions. The college authorities admitted that more male staff were promoted but
this is because men were more in number and there were no undue favors shown to male
gender. To verify the claims and counter claims the following data was obtained. Please verify if
there is a bias in promotion. Is a male more likely to get promoted that a female staff member?

1. The Diamond market is highly brand and quality conscious market. Jewelers choose their source very
carefully as any compromise on quality or dubious transaction can wipe the jeweler out of the market.
Tribhuvan Das Javeri is a family business in the name and style of Javeri Brothers in Hyderabad selling
diamonds to affluent VIP customers. They source their diamonds from Musadilal Tibarumal of Surat. The
cost of standard one carat VS2 clarity, H color diamond is Rs. 240,000. Javeri brothers felt that they may
be paying more to Musadilal. They also know that diamond prices vary widely based on many
uncontrollable factors. They made calls to their contacts in Mumbai Diamond market and obtained the
following prices for the above standard diamond there. Assuming that Musadilal’s price is the
population mean, please verify that the avgerage price offered by suppliers in Mumbai Diamond market
are lower at 1% significance.
