COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course concerns the study of entrepreneurship in general. This is intended for MBA
students who are working for an entrepreneurial company, have existing business
ventures, or have plans to start an entrepreneurial activity in the future.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the semester, the student will be able to develop skills for identifying and
evaluating business opportunities which can be in the form of a new entrepreneurial
venture or a new initiative within an existing business of which team projects are
specifically helpful.

Class activities such as topical presentations, participation during class discussions,


and analyses of topical reports will sharpen both your written and oral communication
skills.

Knowledge and understanding about basic principles in entrepreneurship will be


enhanced and measured through your performance in the final examination.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Creation of a Business Enterprise (30%) – The class shall be divided into two groups.
Each group shall think a business concept where the expected output is a business
enterprise. It can be a partnership, cooperative, or a corporation. Your business will
serve as your laboratory. Legal documentary requirements shall be produced in order
to have a legal identity of the organization. A successful project will earn a final
grade not lower than 1.25.

Compilation of Synthesis Papers (30%) – Each student will prepare a one pager
synthesis paper for every topic as reflected in the Course Outline, i.e., 16 synthesis
papers are expected to be submitted at the end of the semester. All papers from all
students shall be compiled into one book and submit to me two (2) hardbound
copies. The same shall be submitted electronically to tfvcdbaa@gmail.com. The same
format and style shall be used for all synthesis papers.

Topical Report (20%) – Each student/pair will choose a topic based on the course
outline. Contents of your reports must be based on the reference book. Submit the
same (Powerpoint format) to tfvcdbaa@gmail.com a week before your scheduled
report. Reporters must distribute photocopies of their reports to their classmates
before the presentation. It is expected that the reporters will discuss comprehensively
the assigned reading.

Class Participation (20%) – As an MBA student, you are expected to demonstrate


your knowledge in organizational behavior (from theories you are learning to
applications in your respective workplace). Likewise, this goal will not be fully utilized if
your attendance is erratic. Being present in our class sessions means having the
opportunity to share your knowledge with your classmates.

Other reminders:

1. Attendance – Your attendance will be checked by affixing your signatures on the


attendance sheet. Please do not forget to sign. If you cannot attend the class,
you have to inform me in advance.

2. Use of Audio-Visual Presentations – During reports, it is expected that you


prepare PowerPoint presentations (not Microsoft Word). Your PPTs must contain
the summarized points and presented in bullet type. Minimize the use of
paragraphs. You may play some videos to supplement your report.

3. Consultations – Please do not hesitate to approach me for questions and


clarifications regarding course requirements and other class matters.

4. Syllabus – This syllabus is subject to change. Dates are tentative but we shall
strive to finish all course topics covered, discuss the assigned readings, and
accomplish all requirements within the semester.
