The statement “honor your parents, teacher and elders” is from traditional Reiki. The master
teacher was always put in the highest regard, sometimes to the invalidation of the student
themselves. The Light Internal system teaches the initiate to honor themselves as well as their
instructors. Society has instructed us too honor everyone else but ourselves and if we do not fully
love and respect ourselves we cannot honor anyone else. There can be resentment in honoring
another when you do not honor yourself first. You cannot see the accolades in another until you
claim it within yourself. The beauty of honoring other masters is that you have claimed it within
yourself thus empowering the statement, ‘honor your parents, teachers and elders.
