VI
Introduction

Software and technology are increasingly integrated into our daily lives, allowing us to
accomplish task, make purchases, stays connected with friends and managing business. We can’t
deny that technology helps us work smarter. It can decrease labor needs and costs by providing
greater access to information, enabling timely and informed decision making, among other
things. Investing in technology that identifies and solves problem quickly can provide a company
an edge over its competitors. Computers commonly defeat problem by monitoring continuous
data streams looking for deviations from standard predicted or expected results.

Researchers studied the convenient way of saving data entry of members and keeping records for
easy retrieval when needed. A system which may handles the data of the people who come into
the gym. Maintains the information of what and every one records performed by those who
registered as member of the gym. A system that can easily monitor and save the timeline of all
members of the gym and that can easily show the money collection every day and every month.
Also the system can provide the inventory of the equipment of the gym.

4
Background of the Study

The research exists due to the event of knowledge in Technology these days
because individuals and organizations cannot work quickly and accurately in
manual processing of data.-
Kaya nanatiliang research dahil sa paglawak ng kaalaman sa teknolohiya sa
kasalukuyan, ang tao o isang grupo ay hindi kayang magtrabaho ng mabilis at
maayos sa manomanong trabaho.

The research exists due to the problem of businesses, individuals and organizations problem where they
can’t work as fast and accurately as technology does.

Researchers studied and analyze the workflow in Elevate Fitness Gym, the method they are using causes
their flow of customers to be slow.

Developers took some time to gather information and gain ideas on what the owner wants the system
to be, because according to him, his customers are complaining that the current process is time
consuming.

One amongst researchers had veteran the method of registering in Elevate

Fitness Gym and was already indolent to doin their physical exertion.-
Isa sa mga researcher ay napagaralan maigi ang proseso (mas magandaang method ) sa pag
reregister sa Elevate Fitness Gym at tinatamad siya sa ganun kapag mag gygym siya.

Developers take some time to gather the ideas, opinion of the client (the owner
of the gym) on what info he needed in the system.

Ang mga gagawa ng program ay nagbigay ng oras para mapagsama lahat ng kanilang ideya at
yung opinion ng may-arin ng gym sa kung anoang kailangan niya sa system.

5
Statement of the Problem
After the researchers gather the information of current manual method of the Elevate Fitness

Gym, the researchers identified the problems:

1. How can the researchers improve the existing way of recording their transactions?

2. How Elevate will be competitive in other small gyms in terms of services?

3. How will the researchers develop a system?

6
Description of the Project

Researchers are proposing an up to date web application that will monitor activities they

called it as “Gym Management System with Database”. Database is a collection of

information that is organized that can be easy and quick to access data, managed and

updated.

They use a PHP to create the program, database MySQL for the entry, storage and export

of data and XAMMP for transitioning from a local test server to a live server possible.

CHAPTER II. Situational Analysis

Gym

According to Scott (2011) on his research, he declared training at the gym can make us a better

versions of ourselves through exercise. This is one of the reasons why gym members are motivated

to do better on their workout routines. Overall, it is argued that for many participants gym exercise

is more than just physical training; it is also a training for life, they believe that fitness workout

makes them not only fitter in a physical sense, but also fitter and better equipped in a psychological

sense. Surprisingly, a small group of regular gym users displayed more critical sentiments and

distanced themselves from the images and values the gym stands for. The studies limited to process

of creating better versions through exercise.

Stephanie (2013) revealed in her study, that weight loss program indicates that individual

participant's attendance, total club usage and membership attrition can make a huge effect on their

perception in working out and building up their strength and mental being.

Base on her study the six months of participant attendance, total club usage, and gym attrition data

was gathered before and after implementation of the program. This study measure the individual

participant attendance. The health situation has grown so problematic that any movement is

particulary important. It has been shown in a study of 10,000 that active women were 36 percent

less likely to break a hip in years less than the inactive. Brabason(2010,) .

14
In attending the gym , Gneezy et al.(2009) indicates that gym-attendance study extendes for

incentivizing subjects to attend the gym for a month, observing their pre- and post-treatment

attendance relative to a control group, and eliciting subjects’ pre- and post-treatment predictions

of their post-treatment attendance. The gym has also a personnel that is skilled, able to instruct

and it’s called personal trainer for physical exercises,a personal trainer for ubiquitous

monitoring and assessment of physical activity using standard fitness

equipment. Andreas(2012)Ang gym ay may staff na skilled nakayang mag instruct, at

15
Management System

As stated by Lora Burke et al. (2011) self-monitoring presents a systematic

review of the literature on three components of self-monitoring in behavioural
weight loss studies: diet, exercise, and self-weighing. The use of technology, which
included the Internet, personal digital assistants, and electronic digital scales were
reported in five studies. Descriptive designs were used in the earlier studies whereas
more recent reports involved prospective studies and randomized trials that
examined the effect of self-monitoring on weight loss. As studied by Jackson et al.
(2010) a total of 252 diet records of 18 outpatients attending a lipid clinic were
analyzed by a computer-assisted method to determine the minimum number of daily
diet records that would be reliable for monitoring dietary adherence. Consequently,
4 consecutive days of records were deemed acceptable as a reasonable compromise
for minimal, reliable monitoring of diet compliance in outpatients for the nutrients
studied. Sander (2008) computers are an intelligence amplifier that can free human
to use their time effectively. Because computer is a fast and accurate electronic
symbol or data manipulating system that design automatically accept and store
input data process and procedure output results under the direction of the stored
program or instruction.

Janes (2013) stated that computers are extremely reliable device and very
powerful calculators with some great accessories applications like word processing
problem for all of business activities, regardless of size, computers have three
advantages over other type of office equipment that process information because
computer are faster, more accurate more economical.

Adamski(2012) give some advantages of database processing first economy

of scale getting more information from some amount of data, sharing data balancing
conflicting requirement, enforcement of standard, controlled redundancy consisting
integrity security ,flexibility and responsiveness ,increase programmers
productivity, improve program maintenance and data independence.

16
Technology

According to Sebastian(2009) The importance of creating a software in a company is to maximize

value creation for a given investment. This study provides insight into the release planning

processes used in the software industry to create software product value, by presenting three case

studies. It examines how IT professionals perceive value creation through requirements

engineering and how the release planning process is conducted to create software product value.

It also indicates to what degree the major stakeholders’ perspectives are represented in the

decision-making process. Managers have overall search computer technology as a valuable

resource in creating competitive advantage. Companies will have to overcome resistance to

change, heal the data processing, in general management breach will take a look at the

economic issues involved stated by Mare(2013).Code design describes a confluence of

problems in integrated circuit design in the 1990s, it became clear that microprocessor-based

systems would be an important design discipline for IC designers as well. Wayne(2010) he

mentioned 16- and 32-bit microprocessors had already been used in board-level designs, and

Moore's law ensured that chips would soon be large enough to include both a CPU and other

subsystems.

17
Business

As indicated by Anncick Van Rossem (2010) recent academic articles point to an increased

vagueness and overlap in concepts related to business ethics and corporate responsibility. Further,

the perception of these notions can differ in the small-business world from the original academic

definitions. As stated by Ingrid Steenhuis (2009) physical activity levels in most affluent countries

are low and many people do not meet the current recommendations. Particularly for people with a

low income, economic strategies seem promising to stimulate taking part in sports activities. This

study investigated the importance of economic restraints for taking part in sports activities as well

as perceptions of low-income people toward different pricing interventions. BejaranoSinbaqueba

(2009) analyzed that at present serious problems have arisen, in question it has not been carried

out an exhaustive control in the generation of monthly payments. For this reason they have been

presenting a defice and a notable decrease in gym profits. The administrator observing what was

generated and the losses that he had monthly, decided that a system of control, management and

income of the users of the gym would be made to this same one. In this way the development of

the SIAG-BMG information system is being obtained. In this system you will have the insertion

of clients by means of a form, also income of payments and collections. As indicated by Rufai

Yusuf Zakari (2016) a classification is developed based on the broad topics of computer security,

database security and software security. The articles are recognized based on the classification

topic. This allows researcher’s to extract several lessons that are important for the implementation

of computer security.

18
Need Assessment

In registering in Elevate being a member may be valid once choosing monthly rate and might be

now saved within the system not solely by inquiring. Manual writing in log book of clients of

Elevate Fitness athletic facility may be a systematic. The loyalty of the members of the Elevate

can`t be unseen any longer. The crud of the equipment may be method in the system. The money

assortment in athletic facility may be computed through the system.

19
20
Target Users

The target users are the admin and the personnel of the gym.

21
Theoretical Framework

The researchers used their study background in creating the Gym Management System.

1. SAD (System Analysis and Design) is a process of collecting and interpreting facts,

identifying the problems, and decomposition of a system into its components. The

replacing an existing process to make by defining its components .

2. DBMS (Database Management System) is a database management system, (DBMS) is

system software for creating and managing databases. The DBMS is use in the proposed

project to provide with a systematic way to create, retrieve, update and manage data of

the gym members.

3. MIS (Management Information System) is an information system used for decision-

making, and for the coordination, control, analysis, and visualization of information in an

organization.

22
4. Introduction to the World Wide Web The principle of the Web is based on using

hyperlinks to navigate between documents (called web pages) with a program called a

browser. A web page is a simple text file written in a markup language (called HTML) that

encodes the layout of the document, graphical elements, and links to other documents, all

with the help of tags.

Besides the links which connect formatted documents to one another, the web uses the

HTTP protocol to link documents hosted on distant computers (called web servers, as

opposed to the client represented by the browser). On the internet, documents are identified

with a unique address, called a URL, which can be used to locate any resource on the

internet, no matter which server may be hosting it.

The most basic building block of the Web. It defines the meaning and structure of web

content. Other technologies besides are generally used to describe a web page's

appearance/presentation (CSS) or functionality/behavior (JavaScript).

was the method in transactions. As the searchers developed the Gym Management System that

may manage the transactions consistently. The software that they use are the following: PHP,

Bootstrap, Xampp, MySQL and Javascript. The beta testing is for the Elevate owner and it`s

personnel.

When the deployment was successfully done, the developers will offer documentation of

procedures in mistreatment the system. Researchers can orient the content of the procedures. The

upkeep of the system can happen if there are some incident errors and adding new options to the

system.

Technology Consideration Aspect

BOOTSTRAP - Is a free and open-source front-end Web framework. It

contains HTML and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons,
navigation and other interface components, as well as
optional JavaScript extensions. Unlike many earlier web frameworks, it concerns
itself with front-end development only.

PHP - Is a server-side scripting language designed for web development, the

PHP reference implementation is now produced by The PHP Group. PHP originally
stood for Personal Home Page but it now stands for the recursive initialism PHP:
Hypertext Preprocessor.

XAMPP - Is a free and open-source cross-platform web server solution

stack package developed by Apache Friends, consisting mainly of the Apache
HTTP Server, Maria DB database, and interpreters for scripts written in
the PHP and Perl programming languages.

MySQL - Is an open source relational database management system (RDBMS).

JavaScript - Is a high-level, interpreted programming language that conforms to

the ECMAScript specification. It is a programming language that is characterized
as dynamic, weakly typed, prototype-based and multi-paradigm.
