In functions approach, the managers were being well-organized since they were
able to to think of their employees’ well-being. Being able to provide an
unambiguous vision of the future is a mark of a good leadership since it allows
everyone in the team to get involved working towards one vision. The 10 roles
being emphasized in Mintzberg’s roles approach were all shown in the findings
because managers are being open in allowing their people to be responsible
enough in handling problems. The findings of Project Oxygen can also be
categorized and that each component may fall under interpersonal relationships,
the transfer of information, and decision making. And lastly, look through the
lens of skills approach, findings show that managers ensure that they have the
necessary technical abilities to aid employee efforts and offer solutions that can
be of benefit of the employee in need of assistance.

1-18. No. I wasn’t being surprised at what Google found out about the “building a
better boss”. The results being presented that gave highlight to significant
characteristics and habits are very instrumental in achieving the peak of success
of a particular company. Also, since 1999, Google has stood steadfast and the
progress of their company goes up in a constant pace. The results being shown
are the top criteria of a boss should look at in hiring employees in a big company
like the Google. If employees’ welfare and comfort are taken with at utmost
priority, this contribute a lot to the general productivity of the
company/organization.
1-19. Encouraging managers to be great managers is simply giving motivation to
managers to become one. However, if this motivation remains as mere
motivation, nothing fruitful will transpire. On the other hand, knowing what
being a great manager involves has something to do with leading by example.
You give an ear that’s eager to listen and cater to the needs of your
subordinates. Also, you allow them to be in your shoe and vice-versa. This will
give them the chance to learn enough and expand their horizon on things that
matter. Through this, you will provide enough guidance for them to be the great
managers they want to be for they know first-hand what being a great manager
involves.
1-20. I think the number one factor that companies should learn from Google is that
they should allow the people in their company to work on their own unless they
will call out for assistance. The high level of knowledge that their managers have
is also commendable in pursuit of competence, yet the role as a manager should
also go along with one’s expertise. In fact, management does not only involve
one’s capacity to work but the ability to blend well with others in producing the
best results is a factor. Other companies should focus on long-term goals and on
end results for productivity like Google.
1-21. Yes. I want to see myself working for Google. With what is being shown in their
big eight, it would really help me a lot as person especially when it comes to
management. In today’s fast paced world, skills are very important in order for
you to contribute the best for the company you are working in. The way that
managers in Google handle their people are exemplary and it helps a lot in the
personal growth of an individual. And yes, I also want to see myself in company
where I can grow and work with people I can learn from and I can share my
knowledge as well.
