Rev.0
d. There shall be no painting on any weld joint.
e. All vent and other connections, which can have served at pressure test vents shall be open
during filling so that all air can be vented prior to applying test pressure to the systems.
f. Suitably rated spectacle blinds, spades, skillets, blank inset chokes, blind flanges or other
means of positive closure shall be used for each section of piping tested.
g. Adequate temporary supports should be used where volume and weight of water may cause
line deflection. Hydrostatic test loops shall have all high points in the piping with a vent and all
low points with a drain, regardless of whether or not they are specifically shown on the
drawings. When filling, the test fluid shall be introduced at the lowest point of the systems to
minimize the risk of entrapped air and all vents shall be opened. Vents and drains shall be
closed once a continuous flow of fluid is obtained through the vent or drain.
h. Calibrated / certified gauges and recorder shall be used for all hydrostatic tests. The pressure
shall be shown in Psi or Barg. Pressure gauges or recorder used to indicate and record test
pressure shall be dead weight tested for accuracy according to a procedure, dependent of
equipment type. The validity of calibration for all gauges and recorder shall be 1 year.

system with its own pressure gauge. Valves, hoses used in test shall be suitably rated
(preferably use rating of max. test in line list throughout to avoid any confusion).
j. Set up the hydro test equipment which consists of 2 pressure gauges and 1 chart recorder
shall be installed in the test systems, one of gauge near the pressure generator (at the lowest
point) and the other at the highest point, both of which to be positioned so that they can be
easily reached and observed.
11. TEST PRESSURE
a. For pressure testing of piping systems, the test pressure indicated in the construction
drawings shall be strictly followed. The recommended test pressure is not less than 1.5 times
the design pressure.
b. Two hydrostatic test gauges shall be used. Accuracy of pressure gauge shall be at within 0.1
% accuracy at full scale and shall be at within 0.1 % accuracy for the recorder. The test
pressure shall be within 50-70% of the gauge range. If there is a deviation of more than 0.1%
between gauge and recorder during test the test shall be stopped and the equipment
recalibrated. 1 locally Mounted Temperature Indicator with accuracy+ 0.1 deg C.
c. Gauge shall good quality and good working condition.
d. The date of calibration shall be certified on the gauges.

12. HYDROTEST PROCESS

a. Connect the test manifold using high pressure hose or tubing to the test package.
b. Start to fill the test package with water. During filling of the system, open all high point vents
on piping and vessels to free the system from air and to check system for continuity. Once
package has been full with water close all vents valve and plug.
c. Start the pressure recorder and energize the pump to start pressurizing the system. Pressure
shall be increase subsequently from 25% of test pressure + hold 15 minutes for stabilization,
Design pressure + hold 15 minutes for stabilization, and then 100% of test pressure + hold 2
hours. Same procedure shall be performed for depressurization (see attachment – B:
Hydrostatic chart).
d. When the pressure in the system has been stabilized, shut off the pressure source, ensure
that the isolation valves for the isolating pressure are securely closed then disconnect the test
pump connection in the test manifold and plug the isolation valves.
e. Temperature changes have a definitive effect on the pressure in the line. In the closed
systems, where a pipe is directly exposed to the sun, pressure increases up to 25% may
occur. Take necessary precautions to prevent over pressurization. An overnight decrease in
pressure from afternoon to early morning is normal due to temperature changes and does not
necessary indicate a leak.
f. Continuous attendances and supervision shall be maintained at the test pump during
pressurizing the system and the pressure gauges should be monitored.
g. At this point in the hydrostatic test all flange, welds, screwed connections, valve packing, etc.
shall be carefully checked for leaks. Areas to be checked shall be blow dry with compressed
air before a visuals inspection for leaks is carried out.
h. After completion of test all temporary blanks and blinds shall be removed, all operating blinds
returned to proper position and all lines completely drained and the correct line class gaskets
and bolting installed. Valves, orifice plates, expansion joints and short pieces of piping which
have been removed shall be reinstalled with correct line class gaskets and bolting. Lines
being drained after testing shall have all vents open. Lines downstream of a check valve shall
be inspected to insure complete drainage. Piping and equipment shall be completely dried.
i. Documentation shall be provided demonstrating that all test preparations have been
reinstated.
j. Line check and punch list items on the section to be hydrostatic pressure testing have been
completed.
k. The test result of hydrostatic test, include the pressure chart (when required) shall be
prepared as attached form Pressure Test Record by the QA/QC Inspector. The test result
shall be available to the customer and third party for acceptance.
l. In order cases the test package shall be retested again.
i) The line then shall be de-pressurized through the manifold (at top pressure gauge
gradually until the pressure in line is "0" before drain the test medium through the bottom
manifold). The test medium may be reused for other system by redirecting it to the next
System as applicable.
m. Any line change or modified after they had been tested shall be retested.

13. ACCEPTANCE
a. All piping system including welds & flange joint shall be inspected.
b. Acceptance criteria are No deformation and No leak.

c. The test pressure must be maintained for a minimum of two hour after the test pressure has
stabilized and the test pump isolated.

14. POST-HYDROSTATIC TEST MEASURES

a. After completion of hydrostatic test, the pressure shall release gradually in steps. All the vents
and drains shall be kept open until the lines are fully drained. All temporary facilities installed
to facilitate pressure test shall be removed.
b. After hydrostatic test, pipe shall be dried and cleaned. This piping shall be blown-down with
air, and air circulated through the piping until it has been determined that there are no trapped
pocket of water and that the piping is dry.
c. Where permanent or temporary strainers have remained in place for the hydrostatic pressure
test, they shall remove following the test and thoroughly cleaned before reinstalling.
d. Records are made on each piping system when test is completed. These records shall be
retained in the Arung quality document control, as a permanent record and a copy will be
given to owner's representative.
e. These records shall be prepared in tabulated forms and shall include:
Date of test
Test Package Number
Test Block Diagram
System/Subsystem Number
System/subsystem Description
Design Pressure and Temperature

15. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

a. If the pressure drop is found during the test due to leakage at some joint (s) of the system
shall be depressurized, repaired and retesting shall be done at pressure originally specified
for the test.
b. Any leaks found during the hydro test, the system shall be de-pressurized through the bleed
point before proceed with rectification.
c. Upon completion the system is to be fully de-pressurized, all high point vent and test limit
connection are to be full opened prior to draining the hydro test medium.
d. The system shall be drained in stages to avoid vacuum pressure during the draining, which
may damage the line and at same time to allow complete removal.
e. All joints failing to pass the pressure test shall be repaired in accordance with the relevant
specification and the relevant sections shall be retested to the applicable test pressure.
