Power ON and OFF

Power ON and OFF - normal operation
• Breakers on distribution panel and system transformer

• Breakers on Gantry - Couch - Recon Box and CPU Box

• Power ON
Power switch on CPU Box - All breakers must be ON
Allow time until the interactive windows are displayed before performing any operations

• Power OFF
Allow time until all processes have completed
On S-console: Select Utility - Shutdown and click OK
Allow time until "safe to turn off" before switching OFF
Allow at least one minute after switching OFF before switching ON again
Shutdown the system once per day - for file cleanup, initialization and log management
Shutdown and restart the system after any service intervention - confirm normal operation,
before the next patient

If required - password protection for preset functions

Initially Service loads "Original Examplans"


Factory defaults - suitable for most applications

Applications Support fine tunes the Original Examplans as part of initial


applications training

Fine tuned exam plans should be backed up


for later restoration - e.g. after software upgrade

Shortcuts and Scenic Routes

CAUTION - DO NOT EXPERIMENT

• The computers are components of the CT system - not PCs


they run software exclusively for the CT system - and no other software
the CT application runs in a Unix emulator in Windows XP

• Operators access the CT application software - NEVER Windows or Unix

• Service staff access Windows and Unix with caution and according to
validated instructions - service manuals - support information

• No caution will make the system behave abnormally

• CT application software designed for SINGLE CLICK mouse operation
Double-click - exceptions
Multiple-clicking causes abnormalities - on any computer
Read before Clicking

• Keep Service PC under control - malware

• Korn Shell and Windows Taskbar conflict occasionally


e.g.: characters cannot be typed - only capitals can be typed

Ctrl-Alt-Del followed by Esc to recover normal behaviour

Unix - the Korn Shell
Ctrl-Alt-w Korn Shell - Unix from MKS
for CT related commands and utilities: use x:
names without spaces

Start - Run - sh -L Korn Shell

Right-click in top bar access Korn Shell properties

Close the Korn shell by typing exit or by closing the window

Network Setup for the CT
• Change Computer Name
Default computer name is Aquilion

• Hosts table - in: C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/hosts


Do not remove default host names
Add IP addresses and suitable host names as necessary for connectivity
Add empty line at the end - or the last host is not recognised

Back-ups
1. Raw data - by operator
Back-up to DVD-RAM on D-con or optional Raw data server

2. Calibration data - by technical service


Routine back-up of NRA water data to S: - includes calib.dat from system disk
calib.dat back-up on DVD-RAM by site specific settings back-up tool

3. Image data - by operator


Routine back-up by archiving to PACS, DVD-RAM or DICOM media: DVD-R

4. Site specifics back-up and Site specifics back-up tool


- Mostly the responsibility of technical service

Precautions
• The Backup Tool does not include all site specific data
• Site specific data not included in the Backup Tool has to be backed up in an alternative way
• The list of items in the Backup Tool may be different for different software revisions
• Items in the Backup Tool may not be compatible between software revisions
• Some site specific settings may require additional processing for backup or restoration -
regardless of whether or not they are included in the Backup Tool
• A site specifics backup should be made as a precaution against data loss:
- after completion of installation work
- after completion of installation related Applications system setup
- after changing any site specific settings - and after periodic maintenance
• A site specifics backup should also be made before software upgrade
• Restoration of items from the Backup tool cannot easily be undone
Restoration of incompatible items will make the system behave abnormally
Therefore it is recommended to also make a site specific backup of all default settings using
the Backup Tool immediately after software installation

• Site specific data requires proper management
