What is QuickVerse?
QuickVerse is the leading Biblical reference software available for the Windows
operating system. This application provides complete library management (of
STEP books), detailed analytical tools, and daily reading plans.
With over 500 available titles ranging from Bibles to commentaries, QuickVerse
is the only application you’ll ever need to help you study, read, and enjoy Biblical
literature. It is easy to use, simple to install, and requires little computer
knowledge.
The editions differ by the number and types of books. There are also hundreds of
other Bibles, reference materials, and documents that are available for purchase
and download from the QuickVerse.com Website.

How is QuickVerse Organized?

Toolbars
QuickVerse has several toolbars depending upon what is open in the application.
These toolbars include:
• Main Toolbar—this toolbar provides features and buttons that relate to
the entire application and provide you access to such features as Home,
Windows, Library, Bibles, Dictionaries, Search, Annotations, and View
Format.

To set basic default books in QuickVerse, click the Windows Tab then the
Configuration button. From the Preferences Dialog, select Default Books to
set your default Bible, Dictionary, Topical, and Strong’s Hebrew and Greek. Next,
select Commentaries and dictionaries to configure your dictionaries, Bibles,
and Commentaries lists.

Library Manager
To begin using QuickVerse, you will need to access and open books for reading,
annotating, or studying.
The Library Manager (which opens by default on application startup and can be
accessed through the Library Manager button on the Library Tab of the Main
Tool Bar as well) displays the available categories of books.

The Table of Contents
Each book that you open in QuickVerse has a Table of Contents (TOC) that
provides quick navigation to sections, chapters, and verses.
By default, the Table of Contents will open with the book. This TOC makes for
easy navigating to specific areas within the book.

Selecting and Opening Books
To begin working with a Bible, select Holy Bible, New Living Translation:
• Expand the Bibles Categories from the Library Manager (Select the
Plus Sign next to the category).

To open the Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible:
• From the Library Manager expand the Commentaries category and
select Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible. This
will open the book into the Book Window.
Now that you have an open book (Holy Bible, New Living Translation), you can
utilize QuickVerse’s powerful context-sensitive menu as you read. This menu
allows you to define words, understand pronunciation, copy, set font size and
font type, and highlight text.
In the examples that follow, we have closed the Library Manager by clicking on
the X in its title bar. This will provide more room to work with the Holy Bible, New
Living Translation book. To open the Library Manager again, click the Library
Manager Button from the Library Tab.

Pronunciations
Note about Pronunciations: You must have Windows Media Player 8 (or
greater) and a soundcard installed that is operational for this feature to work.

Changing Font Type and Font Size
QuickVerse allows you to change the font type and font size while reading your
text.
To modify the font type:
• Right-click on the open book text, select the Font Type option and then
select a font type from the sub menu. Your selection will be made
immediately.

Highlighting Text
Highlighting text is a great way to mark information for future reference. Quick
Verse’s highlight feature offers a variety of colors to choose from.
To highlight text:
• Select the desired text.
• Once you have selected the text, go to the Annotations Tab and click
the Highlight Button.
• Alternatively, you can right-click on the text and select Highlight
Selection from the context-sensitive menu.
• Both methods will highlight the text in your chosen color.

allows you to group highlighting by color when managing markers.
To manage any highlights you have created, click on the View button in the
Annotations Tab on the Main Toolbar. This will open the Highlights and
Bookmarks Window.
QuickVerse includes a built-in copy feature that copies selected text directly to
your Windows clipboard. This allows you to paste passage, verse, or other
textual information into your word processor, email message, or other program.
To copy text:
• Using Matthew 1:1 in the Holy Bible, New Living Translation as an
example, select the passage of text starting with Abraham and ending
with King by clicking at the start of “Abraham,” holding your mouse
button, dragging the cursor, and releasing after “King.”
• Once the text has been selected, right-click the selection and choose
Copy from the context-sensitive menu.

• To test, open an application into which you can paste (i.e., Wordpad or
your word processor) and paste the passage.
The QuickVerse Enhanced Copy Feature allows you to copy text with citation
information. This feature supports a number of options that you can customize by
selecting Enhanced Copy from the Context-Sensitive menu. Enhanced copy
options that you can set include what kind of information to copy (i.e., text,
author, etc.), and how it should be ordered.

Verse Link
When you are reading a book and find a word underlined and colored in blue, it
means that it has an additional verse reference. To view a reference, simply pass
your cursor over the blue word. The verse will appear in the Information Pane in
the lower right corner of the QuickVerse desktop.
• As an example, open the devotional Morning and Evening by expanding
the Devotionals Category of the Library Manager and double-clicking
on the book.
• Using the Table of Contents, browse to January 1 and select the first
entry. When the page has opened, pass your cursor over the blue
underlined text, Joshua 5:12. The verse will display in the Information
Pane in the upper right corner of the QuickVerse desktop.

Multibook Search
Performing a text search that can take place in numerous books can be done
easily with QuickVerse’s built-in search feature. To open the search feature from
the Search Tab click on the Search Books button.

After you have expanded a book, select a verse (i.e., Exodus 25:9). This will
display the text with the search highlights.

Multiple Book Syncing
In some instances, you may want to read the same verses, chapters or passages
in different versions or “translations” of the Bible. QuickVerse provides you the
ability to synchronize the books so that they all open to the same location.
For example: If you open The Holy Bible, King James Version, Holy Bible, New
Living Translation, The Holy Bible, American Standard Version all three Bibles
will be displayed on the QuickVerse screen. The Multiple Book Syncing will bring
them all to the same verse location.
• Click the Sync Button in the Book Window Toolbar of each open
book. This will synchronize all of the open Bibles to the same verse.

• Click the BCV Index checkbox on the Windows Tab to open the BCV
Index.
• In the BCV Index, browse to Titus 3 and select the first verse.

Pictures
When reading a chapter or verse in the Bible, you may find it easier to
understand with a visual reference. QuickVerse makes this possible through
Parsons Bible Pictures.
• For example, open the Holy Bible, New Living Translation from the
Bibles category in the Library Manager. This will open the Bible into the
Book Window.
• Next, from the Commentaries category in the Library Manager, select
Parson’s Bible Pictures.
• Click the Tile Horizontally button on the Windows Tab so that you
can view both books at once.
• In the Holy Bible, New Living Translation go to Matthew 5:1.
• When you are finished, go to Parsons Bible Pictures and in the TOC
open the Picture by Verse book and go to Matthew 5.

• Click the link that says Jesus Preaches the Sermon on the Mount.
• This will display the picture Jesus Preaches that goes with your reading.

Other reference books contain pictures, diagrams, and maps. Look for See
picture, See diagram, or See map links in the books. To view the picture,
diagram, or map, click on the link.

Topical Study
Click the Windows Tab on the tool bar. Go to the Information Panes section
and select Topic Index. The Topics Pane will open displaying Nave’s Topical
Study in the Book Window; the Topic Pane allows you to quickly and easily jump
to a Biblical topic by alphabetical order.
For this example, we are going to work with Peter the Fisherman.
• Select the letter P.
• Expand the letter P.
• From the list of topics under P select Peter. This opens a list of
subtopics that tell who Peter was, and what he did.
• Select the topic Peter the Fisherman. This moves Nave’s Topical Bible
to the topic Peter the Fisherman. Hover the cursor over a verse to read
more about that topic in a Bible. The verse displays in the Information
Pane in the upper right corner of the QuickVerse desktop.

Strong’s Greek and Hebrew
Strong’s numbers are in-text numbered reference links to Greek and Hebrew
words that provide additional information about Biblical words and meanings. To
view Strong’s Number references:
• In the Library Manager, go to the Concordances category to open
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance.

Parallel Books
The Parallel Books Feature allows you to examine verses across different
translations (versions) of the Bible. To open the Parallel Books Feature:
• Go to the Library click on the Parallel Books Folder
• Double click on the Four Bibles title. This will open the Parallel Books.

The Parallel Feature displays the same verse across all of the Bibles selected in
one window! This provides a great reference to see the subtle differences
between Bible translations. You can browse to the next section, chapter, and
verses using the navigational buttons in the Book Window Toolbar or selecting
an alternative book, chapter, verse in the BCV Index.

Parallel Gospels
The Parallel Gospels is a harmony of the Gospels that allows you to view
verses of Gospel events from each Gospel. To open Parallel Gospels:
• Go to the Library click on the Parallel Books Folder
• Double click on the Parallel Gospels title. This will open the Parallel
Gospels.
• Use the Parallel Gospels TOC to navigate to and select the Gospel
event of your choice. The verses for that event display in the Parallel
Gospels window.

Daily Reading Plans
The Daily Reading Plan provides you with daily reading over a selected time
period. For example, if your goal is to read The Holy Bible, King James Version
in 365 days, the QuickVerse Daily Reading Plan can be configured to keep you
on track.

Once you have finished reading the content for a day, you can mark it as “read.”
To mark a day as read:
• Click the Mark/Unmark button above Plan Schedule and to the left of
the Toggle TOC button. Click the Plus Sign next to the day to view a
green checkmark on the Segment.
You can print the daily reading plan by clicking the Print Button on the Home
Tab.
Book Notes
Book Notes provide an entry notepad to enter notes related to Bible verses and
book chapters. To enter a note,
• Select the Annotations Tab on the Main Toolbar.
• Click on the Add Annotations button. The Notes Pane will appear.
• In the Notes Pane, enter text.
• As you navigate through chapters your notes save automatically!

View All Book Notes
• The Annotations Library displays all of your notes from any/all Bibles.n
• To turn off the Annotation Library, click the Annotation Library
button.

Download Books
One of the great features of QuickVerse is downloading locked books from the
QuickVerse website.
To download books,
• Go to the Library Tab.
• Click on the Download Books button. The Download Books dialog will
appear.
• Use the TOC on the Download Books dialog to locate and select
books you want to download.
• Click the Download button on the Toolbar to download books.
• Download Books will copy the locked book from our Website directly to
your Library for unlocking and immediate use!
To unlock a book, click the Unlock Book button on the Library Tab and follow
the instructions on the Unlock Book screen.
