both sides of the fault and orientate the fractures parallel to the fault. 1. Create a Distance to Object Property in Geometrical Modeling. 2. In the Properties Calculator cut the property so you are looking at 100m either side of the fault. 3. Create a Centreline Intersection for the fault you want to model fractures along. 4. Right click on the fault in your Fault model and convert to fault surface. 5. Use the select/pick mode click on the fault plane take note of the centre line depth. 6. Go to the Settings for the Fault plane and use Create intersection with plane Operation. 7. Take the Intersection centreline and use it as the input to Make/Edit Surface. Set the Geometry, in Pre Proc toggle on Convert polygons to directional value and Refine polygons, select an algorithm I have used Convergent Interpolation but a different one might work better for you! Remember to refresh the colour scale of your surface. 8. Minus 90 from the resultant directional grid. Go to the Settings for the Surface you have just created and minus 90 from the directional grid in the Calculations tab. 9. Using the Property calculator make two constant properties for Dip and Concentration we will use these as input to the fracture network. Then create Azi =input your surface from Make/Edit Surface (X,Y)
Calculate a constant Dip
Calculating Azi and Concentration 10. In the Fracture network process use your property you have already created in the Distribution tab. Geometry tab set as you wish. Orientation tab: select method use parameters from property and select your 3 properties. Final output = a fracture network displaying parallel to the fault plane covering 100m either side of the fault. Viewed on a general intersection in a 2D window.
