COMARTS FESTIVAL OF TALENTS

EVENT : ONE – ACT, ONE – SCENE, MELODDRAMA


Mechanics
1. Each team shall consist of three (3) performers (male or female)
2. The contestants shall present an original melodrama or an adaptation of a written
dramatic presentation.
3. Conversation must focus on natural disaster situation.
4. Costumes and props are permissible.
5. No recorded speaking, singing or sound effects is permitted.
6. Performance time, 3-5 minutes.
7. The criteria for judging:

Characterization 30%
( gestures, facial expressions, movement,
variety of dramatic skills displayed )
Mastery 30%
(Interaction of characters)
Costumes, Effective use of props 20%
Script 20%
(worthwhile message)

EVENT : VOICE ACTING

Mechanics :

1. From one of the scenes of the Phil. Television Series “ Pangako Sa’yo”
2. Participants must create their own script from the TV Series.
3. Performance time, 3-5 minutes.
4. Criteria for judging:

Voice Acting Values 25%


(voice projection, pronunciation, accent, intonation)
Comprehensibility and Expressiveness 25%
(timing)
Performance Creativity and Entertainment 25%
(Entertaining use of language, effort and enthusiasm)
Accuracy, Flexibility and Fluency 25%
( Imitate the voices of the characters,
ability to recognize the character’s pitch and tone )

Mechanics

1. Composed of 15 performers ( including the performers and instrumentalist)


2. Each Cluster must submit their warm – up piece topic “ Public Awareness on
Climate Change “ in Tribal dialect/ Mother Tongue the original piece which will focus
on the Promotion of the K to 12 Basic Education. The competition piece is entitled “
I’m Sorry, But…”

 Best in jazz chanting using the Tribal dialect/s/ Mother Tongue
 Best in Competition Piece (I’m Sorry, But…)
 Best in Original Composition (Promotion of the K to 12 Basic Education
Program)
 Best in Choreography
 Best in Costume
 Over – all Champion
3. The three (3) pieces shall be delivered in 7 minutes only.
4. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
5. Criteria for judging:

READER’S THEATER/READING INTERPRETATION

Mechanics:

1. There will be a minimum of thirteen (13) participants but not to exceed fifteen.
2. Free choice of reading piece.
3. Mechanical or instrumental sound effects are not allowed. However, vocally
emitted noise and sound effects created by the performers are permissible.
4. 5-7 minutes of delivery inclusive of entrance and exit.

READ AND TELL A STORY

Mechanics

1. Contestants are bona fide high school students from the public schools.
2. One contestant per cluster.
3. Language to be used is English.
4. The participants will be given a story to be read in one (1) hour.
5. Delivery time is 3 -5 minutes.
6. Contestants are judged according to their ability to recall and retell the story read.
7. The winners will be chosen by the panel of judges during the contest proper based
on the following criteria.

Story Content 30%


(Accuracy of recalled events, organization of events/ideas
including making inferences from texts and accurate outlining
of the sequence of events as they happened in the story)
Mechanics 30%
(includes voice projection and expression, audience
impact and level of confidence)
Voice and Articulation 30%

THE ART OF SMART TALKING

Mechanics:

1. Contestants are bona fide high school students from the public schools.
2. One contestant per cluster.
3. Language to be used is English.
4. Smart Talker
5. To speak on ideas based on question asked on the spot
6. Preparation time is 3 minutes.
7. Delivery time: 2-3 minutes
8. The winners will be chosen by the panel of judges during the contest proper based
on the following criteria:

Wit and Intelligence 30%


Organization/Relevance of the Ideas/topic shared 30%
Articulation/Diction 20%
Stage Presence 10%
Appropriateness of Attire 10%

SING AND DANCE IN THEATER

( ETHNIC AND CONTEMPORARY)

1. Live song ( Human song).
