SYNOPSIS REPORT ON BRIDGE DECK ANALYSIS

The objective of conducting this research work is to investigate the strength and serviceability behavior of
a highly skewed and horizontally curved bridge as well as analysis and design procedures for these types
of structures.

Firstly the basic equations of Plate theory would be derived according to the suitable end conditions and
geometry of our model. Suitable grillage model would also be worked out using different types of grill
alignments. Using suitable Finite Element computer program the models would be properly modeled and
detailed analysis would be carried like stability of structure, Uplifting, Torsional Moments etc.

Skew decks specifications as given by Ministry of Surface Transport (Road Wing) for skew slabs of 5 m,
6 m and 8m and angles of 15˚, 30 ˚, 45 ˚ and 60 ˚ will be further verified in our study.

The experimental work would comprise of casting and testing of sample.Comparision of the experimental
and theoretical results serves to check the merit and limitations of various analytical methods.

Lastly, the theoretical analysis and model testing of any existing bridge would be carried out.
