INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PUNE (IIITP) is committed to provide the best in class
technical education in the country. The institute is facilitating knowledge transfer whilst keeping up with
the latest development pedagogy.

IIITP is an Institute of national importance established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD), Government of India and Industry partners on Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP)
basis. IIIT Pune is functioning from a transit campus located at Sadumbre, Tal. Maval, Pune. The permanent
campus for IIIT Pune is over 100 acres at Nanoli village, Tal. Maval, Pune.

IIIT Pune offers undergraduate programs (UG), postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. in Electronics and
Communications Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The academic curriculum for
the UG programs is designed to match international standards in engineering education with a view
to produce quality engineers. It is actively working on revamping its UG curriculum to meet the future IT
requirements. Apart from academics the institute provides comprehensive environment that promotes art,
culture, sports, societal contributions and self-governance. UG students participate in ongoing research
and technology development, as a result, a vibrant UG programme exists to fulfill the needs of society.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune (IIITP), established in 2016, is one among the fastest growing
IIITs in 20 newly established IIITs by the MHRD, Government of India and industry partners as Not-for-profit
Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institution. ROLTA Ltd. and HUBTOWN Ltd. are the industry partners of
IIIT Pune.
Academics at our institute is focused on advancement through knowledge and systematic understanding of
course materials and their application. We are committed to foster a qualitative educational environment
for spherical development of an individual. Our focus lies not just on academic brilliance but also on
knowledge that is pervasive in areas of emerging technologies. We, through our learning and research
programs aim at building such applications of information technology whose benefits percolate even

The vision of this center is to provide leadership
in establishing a regional presence in the area
of Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber
security of IoT by fostering state-of-the-art
research, and to provide training of manpower
in order to improve the posture of information
assurance awareness locally, regionally and
nationally. It fosters cutting-edge research in the
area of Robotics, IoT and Cyber security of IoT.

CENTRE FOR INDIAN LANGUAGES AND
COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE
The Center for Indian Languages and
Computational Intelligence (CILCI) provides
‘Annotated, quality language data and tools in
Indian Languages to Individuals, Institutions and
Industry for Research & Development - Created
in house, through outsourcing and acquisition’.
The centre develops various systems using Indian
languages, to develop fundamental theoretical
and practical solutions to real world problems
using a variety of computational intelligence
paradigms. With an established international
reputation, its work focuses on the use of fuzzy
logic, artificial neural networks, evolutionary
computing, mobile robotics and biomedical
informatics. CILCI offers a number of benefits to
the data management, defence, health, logistics,
security and video gaming sectors.

CENTRE OF VLSI AND
NANOTECHNOLOGY
The VLSI and Nanotechnology centre forms the
backbone for research in the system design field
in the institute. It aims at organizing research links
in the academia across the globe and to train
individuals in VLSI design and Nanotechnology.
It creates a platform for front-end and back-
end design, verification and implementation.
The centre is equipped with VLSI EDA tools such
as Cadence, Vivado and hardware resources
from Xilinx. The centre will be further expanded
for Silicon Signoff and verification.
CENTRE FOR BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE
AND ENGINEERING
Biomedical research is the broad area of
science that looks for ways to prevent and
treat diseases. An interdisciplinary field of
research which includes elements of both the
life and physical sciences and engineering.
Utilizing biotechnology techniques, biomedical
researchers study biological processes and
diseases with the ultimate goal of developing
effective treatments and diagnostic systems. This
centre acts as a bridge between engineering,
medicine and science. The centre for Biomedical
Science and Engineering will have several
different research and practice foci that will
evolve as the centre grows and formulates over
the next several years.

LECTURE SERIES
At IIIT, Pune we believe that a successful future cannot be
built without reflecting into the past and learning from our
experiences as well as those of others. As an extension to
this ideology we invite scholars who could talk on subjects of
broad interest. Around five or six such seminars are held every
year. Apart from specialist researchers in their respective
domains, eminent historians, policy makers, technologists,
and leading thinkers have presented their ideas. Through
this initiative, we want our students and faculty to develop a
broader perspective of their responsibility to society and to
give them an opportunity to listen to remarkable life stories
of our esteemed panel of speakers. In this endeavor, we have
hosted eminent personalities such as; Dr. Shekhar Bhansali
(Prof. & Chair, ECE, Florida Inter. University), Dr. Debasish
Ghosh (Prof. IISc Bangalore), Dr. B.K. Murthy ( MeitY, GOI.),
Dr. K.K. Pathak (Prof. IIT BHU), Ms. Yesoda Bhargava (Samsung
Research, India), Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Prof. Lakhmi C.Jain ( University
of Technology, Sydney), Dr. Swagatam Das ( ISI Kolkata ), Dr.
Phalguni Gupta ( NITTTR, Kolkata ). It has been our constant
enterprise to ensure that we invite dignitaries from a wider
array of professions so as to develop a holistic and broad view
of life and society.
INNOVATION CELL
MHRD has established its Innovation Cell’ with the
mandate to work closely with the Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs) to encourage the creative energy
of our student population to work on new ideas and
innovation and to promote them to create start-ups and
entrepreneurial ventures.
MIC will focus on creating complete ecosystem
which will foster the culture of Innovation across all
educational institutions from ideas generation to
pre-incubation, incubation and graduating from the
incubator as successful start-ups. MIC will also work on
designing ranking system to identify institutions in the
forefront of innovation.
MIC will actively engage various central and state
agencies to ensure that dedicated budget is allocated
for innovation related activities.
Under MHRD’s innovation cell (MIC), Institution’s
Innovation Council (IICs) are constituted in more
than 1000 higher educational institutions to promote
innovation. The ministry specifies a schedule to all the
IICs. The innovation council organizes workshops and
expert talks from various resource persons coming from
esteemed institutions PAN India.

ACM-ICPC
IIIT Pune hosted this year’s International Collegiate
Programming Contest (ICPC) on December 17 and 18,
2018. Best programmers in the world battled for the ICPC
championship at IIIT Pune. ICPC is an annual multi-tiered
competitive programming competition among the universities
of the world. It operates autonomous regional contests
covering six continents culminating in a global World Finals
every year. In 2017, 49,935 students from 3,098 universities in 111
countries participated. ICPC is often dubbed as the ‘Olympics
of Computer Programming’.
A total of 25 host sites were selected for the Asia region. In
the Pune-Gwalior region, IIIT Pune hosted the contest in Pune
whereas ABV-IIITM Gwalior hosted the contest in Gwalior.
More than 700 teams from premier institutes of the country
participated in the Pune-Gwalior leg of the competition.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM
The faculty development programme was aimed at
empowering the faculty members, enthusiasts and
professionals in the area of Data Science and Machine
Learning using state-of-the-art methods. There
were 18 sessions in the whole programme with each
session being of 90 minutes. Every session followed an
organized flow starting from background information
and then progressing towards brainstorming and
information exchange. It served as a great platform for
our immensely talented peer group of faculty members
to get acquainted to efficient ways of management in
these fields.
