Logistic Regression
Situation:
A group of 20 students spend between 0 and 6 hours studying for an exam. How does the number
of hours spent studying affect the probability that the student will pass the exam? The table shows
the number of hours each student spent studying, and whether they passed (1) or failed (0).

Does the number of hours spent studying affect the probability that the student will pass the exam?
H0 = There is no significant relationship between the hours spent studying and the probability that the
students will pass or fail the exam.
Ha = There is significant relationship between the hours spent studying and the probability that the
students will pass or fail the exam.

Decision Rule: Accept H0 if computed p-value (Sig.) is greater than 0.05 or reject the null hypothesis H0 if
p-value ≤ 0.05;
There is significant relationship with the hours studying on the probability of passing the exam.
Step 8: Conclusion
The result of the research confirms that for every additional hour spent studying, the student raises his
odds of passing the exam.
Step 9: Implications
For a student who wants to pass the exam, he should spend more time in studying.
