Content Standards: The learner demonstrates an understanding of media and information


sources, and values them as part of communication tools.
Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to create a log of their use and interaction
with media and information providers to aid in their understanding of
media and information literacy.
Learning Competencies: Describes how much media and information affect communication.
MIL11/12IMIL-IIIa-1

I – Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:


1. Create a log that reflects their current use and interaction with media and
information.
2. Define the key concepts (media, information, technology literacy, and
media and information literacies).
3. Compare and relate the media and information literacy framework to their
own understandings and competencies.
II – Subject Matter
A. Topic: INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY (MIL)
B. Materials: Media and Information Literacy Hand-out (PDF), Laptop, Visual Aids,
Marker, Manila Paper, Television.
C. Reference: Media and Information Literacy by UNESCO

III. Developmental Activities/Procedures


A. Routine Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
B. Motivation
Ask the students how do they communicate and what they know about the history of
communication.

C. Activity Proper
The teacher discusses the history of communication.

D. Analysis/Discussion
Ask students how communication came about.
E. Abstraction/generalization
Ask students to list down the technology discovered within a timeline.
F. Application
What is the importance of knowing the history of communication in your everyday
living?
