Gone too Fast
Another long summer has come and gone
I don’t know why it always ends this
way…
“Baby I’ll be back again”, you whispered in
my ear
But now the winter wind is the only sound
And everythin’ is closin’ down

It’s hard to believe summer is almost at its
end. Kids are heading back to school.
Labor Day is right around the corner. The
cool autumn winds blow on the horizon.
I hope you had an enjoyable summer. It
sure went by quickly. It seems like just
yesterday we gathered at the Douglas
Country Club for our Sunrise Service. This
Sunday, we will gather outdoors again for
our annual service at Natural Bridge.
I like what author Mark Buchanan says
about summer, “The Bible describes the
kingdom of heaven as a banquet, a
homecoming, a joyful reunion, a true
Sabbath, a full and final reprieve from
life's misery, drudgery, and loss. It’s
endless summer.”
We have hope that one day, we won’t
have to experience the end of summer.
Instead, we will bask in the warmth of
God’s love forever.
In the meantime, keep looking towards
Heaven, and enjoy the splendor of the
falling autumn leaves.
