It is based on practical orientation, facts , and finding of hospital and anyone copy of this project not to be published without the permission of mine and my project guide too. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT The practical training in storage department at “N.R.S medical college end hospital” offered me both a learning experience as well as glimpse into the daily management. function of a renowned hospital. During the training I was fortunate enough to interact with people, who in their own capacities have encouraged & guided me a lot. It is a matter of great pleasure to express our sense of gratitude to Mr. Rajiv Mukherjee , assistant superintendent of N.R.S medical college and hospital for his valuable time & help throughout the project work. Without his continuous encouragement & keen interest I could not have completed this work successfully. I am also thankful to my respected teacher, asst, professor Sanchari Bhattacharjee of our hospital management department of “GURU NANAK INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY” for her constant support & valuable guidance. Finally I acknowledge my gratitude & heartfelt to the staffs of storage department in N.R.S medical hospital. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report is on basis of my training in N.R.S medical college and hospital from 18th june 2015 to 18th july 2015 in the storage department. I focused on hospital’s storage department. At first I have discussed. At first I have discussed about the basic knowledge about store and scope of doing this project. Then I have discussed about the store and scope of this doing this project. Then I have discussed about hospital’s profile, review of literature, methodology of this project. Then I have discuss about my observance on the hospital, like : location of storage department in this hospital, layout of this storage area, function of storage, workflow & staffing pattern of this hospital storage department. During this project, the methods used by the hospital to measure levels of customer satisfaction have been noted. Appropiate steps used to handle critical problem have also been observed. An overview of the work flow in the department has also been studied. The methodology of these studies included personal observation, patient surveys through structured questionnaires and direct and indirect interaction with patient and their guardians. Primary data used has been collected through structured questionnaires administered to a sample of 80 people who had been randomly selected as per research convenience. Then I have discussed about the pateint satisfaction on different services in hospital which is known as data analysis. Then I wrote down the problem which I have seen in hospital and their recommendation or suggestion. Then I wrote the conclusion of my project. At last have discussed about the references which will help me for complete of my project. INTRODUCTION Receiving and storing are important flow control activities in the materials management chain. In industries, materials have to be stocked to meet the consumption requirements during lead time. Warehousing is not a simple act of storing materials through the production department. Store management encompassed acquisition shipping, receiving, evaluation, warehousing and distribution of goods, supplied and equipment for an organisation. Storekeeping is primarily a service function in which the storekeeper acts as a custodian of all items carried in store. Stores management should aim at providing this service as efficiency as possible with minimum possible cost. It is the aspect of material control concerned with the physical storage of materials and goods. The word “stores” refer to the place where all kind of material and goods are held in stock and storage is defined as act of storing the goods. Stores are generally classified as : 1) Raw materials stores, 2) component stores, 3) consumable stores, 4) semi-finished goods, 5) finished goods stores, 6) inward good stores 7) holding stores 8) spare part stores 9) inflammable materials stores 10) tools stores 11) stationary stores 12) maintenance material stores 13) rejected disposal stores 14) scrap or disposal stores 15) stationary items stores 16) packing materials stores. Objective : i. To maintain optimum stock of material to compensate for irregular supplies by supplier. ii. To achieve efficient utilization of storage space. iii. To keep all account of all goods kept in stores. iv. To facilitate quantity purchases at discount prices. v. To enable flexibility in production schedules. vi. To reduce usage of material handling equipment. vii. To prevent theft, damage, wastage, and deterioration of stored materials. viii. To provide codification of stored items for easy recognition. ix. To maintain record of all incoming materials and issue of materials to user department. Facilities : To meet the demand of user departments by proper issues and keeping account of items used by user departments. To highlight accumulation of stocks, discrepancies and abnormal consumption and Implement proper control measures. To ensure good house-keeping to facilitate proper material handling, material preservation, receipt, stocking and issue of materials. To assist material accounts department in stock verification and provide supporting information for effective purchasing. To provide adequate and proper storage and preservation and handing. To co-ordinate store-keeping with related production functions.
