General
The purpose of this Engineering Bulletin is to provide a cross-reference between current API
6A Material Classes and Trim designations used for Cameron products prior to API 6A 16T h Edition.
This document does not take into account the temperature rating of the equipment. Some of
these old Trim designations included equipment designed for a specific temperature range, and others
included multiple temperature ranges. Please refer to assembly part number description for actual
temperature rating of equipment.
Table I should be used for reference only because materials used in equipment manufactured prior to
API 6A 15th Edition may or may not meet the current requirements of Table I.

Table I
Notes:
Temperature classes may be combined. For example, P+U = -20 to 250 o F (-20 to 182 o C).

Note: API 14D was withdrawn in 1996. The Surface Safety Valve (SSV) and Underwater Safety
Valve (USV) valve requirements for the US offshore regulatory program are now included in API
6A, Section 10.20. An API 14D Standard Service valve is now designated as API 6A SSV / USV,
PR1, and API 14D Sandy Service valves are now designated as API 6A SSV/USV, PR2. The PR1
and PR2 requirements for SSV’s and USV’s are not the same as for other valves covered by
API spec 6A.
