Introduction

Intership is valuable where realism is essential. The knowledge of a student gained from college
professors are not enough when only learned by pure imagination. Interships serve as a way that
give students a chance to apply the lessons learned from school. It also aids the student to achieve
relevant knowledge, skills, and to build one’s character as young professional through the actual
experience in working in the field of their profession. Thus, the workplace and the field serve as a
new venue of learning for studens.
 CHAPTER I

COMPANY PROFILE

Company

Datem is founded and incorporated by Engineers Levy V. Espiritu and Morris S. Agoncillo, and
Architect Arnold P. De Asis on year 1984. The company’s first foray into the low-cost housing segmnt
proves succesful with the construction of 45 residential units for La Paz Housing and Development.
On year 1994 DATEM rises to become a Category AA contractor, the company also incorporates
DATEMFORM, a partnership with an international firm specializing in formworks and precast
tehnology.

DATEM is considered one of the idustry’s pioneers in the use of precast tehnology for faster
installation and low cost for it minimizes the wastes, formworks and scaffoldings. DATEM Precast
Plant especializes precast walls, precast slabs, precast ledge, and modular housing.

The company’s roster of clients and partners continue to expand to include of some of the
industry’s most important pplayers such as Ayala Land inc., Megaworld Corporation, Mercury Drug
Corporation, Robinsons Land Corp., Rockwell Land Corporration, Shang Properties Inc., and United
Laboratories Inc.

DATEM as one of the leading construction firms in the country formulates new vission to become
“ the fastest growing construction firm, gaining significant market share through innovation and
technology (2013). It was also accredited as a Quadruple A contractor, the highest category given to
constructionn firms by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB), the implementing
agency of the Construction Industry Association of the Philippines (CIAP) on 2014.

On year 2017. DATEM recieves triple ISO certifications for its Quality Management Sysytems,
Environmental Management Systems, and Occupational Health And Safety Systems.

With over 35 years of experience in the industry, it offers value-driven engineering services through
the confluence of technical expertise, innovation, and teachnology.
 CHAPTER II

INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES

My objective was to achieve high career growth through a continous process of learning for
achieving goal and keeping myself dynamic in the changing scenario on workplace that would help
in my career in engineering field.

On June 10, 2019 we first went to the main office located at 99 Bldg. Mindanao Avenue Quezon
City Philippines for the application for internship. The application went so smoothly because their
staffs are very approachable and are very accomodating. Miss Marjorie G. Mayor a HR staff
conducted an interview to us by throwing some questions about our interest on the engineering field,
and also we have a short orientation about the milestone of the company. I was so amazed because
who have thought we are now applying in a big and one of the leading construction firm in our contry
with such big projects. After the orientation we then signed an agreement between interns (us) and
Datem Inc. containing the terms and conditions of the company and states that our intership will begin
on June 11, 2019 at the Veranda Arca South Projet under the supervision of Engr. Joel Castillo.

Our internship formally started on June 11, 2019, we first met our supervisor Engr. Joel Castillo
which happens to be the Project Manager of the project. He welcomed us and introduced to his staff.
I was so shy that time beacuase everything was new to me, the people, the language and the
environment was so different, but I tried to catch up because I don’t want to loose this oppurtunity to
be here and achieve my goals. He also gave us a brief orientation about the project and about the
environment we were dealing with for our safety. Sir Joel also suggested that we should not focused
on one department only which is right so we decided to follow his suggestion beacause it is an
advanatge for us to gain more knowledge about construction. After some talks and interviews he
instructed us to visit first the timekeeping and safety office, as well as the warehouse. With imeediate
response we went to the timekeeping office, there we have read the terms and conditions of time
schedule for the time in and time out. We also have a brief orientation about the wages of the workers
per hour and being time efficient is the most important thing we’ve learned on this department.
Second we went to the safety office, there we were oriented how important safety is to this kind of
environment. It is a policy of DATEM on every project they had to strive for the highest safety
standard. Safety dos not occur by chance. It is a result of careful attention to all company opeations
by those who are directly and indirectly involved. Before the day ends, we went to the warehouse to
familiarize thr tools and equipments used for the project and also to get our PPEs. Below are some
