As we know, freshly graduated students in Indonesia have some lack of trouble during their first time applying on a job. Coming to this, also, can make their performance isn’t as satisfying as it should be, since they don’t have any experience towards having a real networking in the field. On the other hand, students in Indonesia (more specifically high schooler) don’t do much during holiday, which is such a waste of time without doing anything. Part-time job could be one of the solution for this problem. It can help teenagers better develop their identities, obtain increased autonomy, achieve new accomplishments, develop work experience, and become more independent from their parents. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 50 percent of American teenagers hold informal jobs, such as babysitting or yard work, by age 12. By age 15, nearly two-thirds of American teens have had some kind of employment. By the time teens graduate from high school, 80% will have held a part-time job at some time during the school year break. Meanwhile in Indonesia, they’re only several teens who are willing to do part-time job during holiday or was driven by their parents financial situation. Most students don’t think about the perks that come with having a part-time job while being a full-time student. While working at school isn’t for everyone, being aware of some of the advantages you can tap into will help you decide whether or not you’re making the right decision. By having a part-time job students earn their own money and get lessons on spending them wisely. They may be less likely to spend their hard-earned money frivolously and learn to delay gratification to pay for necessities, such as text books and rent. At the same time, they can save for non-essential purchases, such as a phone. It can develop some useful skills, even though you may not think the skills you’re developing at a part-time job will be useful to your career, they can be! Part- time jobs teach skills every employer is looking for: commitment, time management, teamwork, leadership, organization, and filling out job applications. Therefore, having a part-time job during holiday for students is needed as long as the job is safe, legal, and leaves ample time for academics (that’s why the greatest time to kick out some part-time job is on holiday), working during high school can benefit students, parents and the surrounding community. Students learn skills and responsibility by working, remove some financial burden from their parents by earning their own money and serve the people of their communities.
