How to Jump Start Car Battery?

Many times the drivers face the problem when the car does not start. One case is that the battery
is actually dead and you need to find the nearest auto parts store to get new battery. Second
case is that it seems the battery is dead, but the lights and electrical systems may be working in.
If this is the case, the battery of your car is not dead. Rather, it needs jump start. How to jump
start your car battery? Below are the tips in this regard.

1. Find Jumper Cables

In order to jump start the dead battery, you will need to have two jumper cables. It should also
be noted that another car with a fine and working battery is also needed for this purpose. You
should also know the jumper cables are used for jump starting the dead battery.

2. Park the Car Near Another Car

As you have all the essential tools, you should park both the cars near each other. Try to keep
the distance minimum so that cables of both batteries reach the other. When it is done, you
should open the bonnet and locate the batteries. Position of batteries may be different in both
the cars but it is not a problem.
3. Find Positive and Negative Terminals
Before you find the terminals, remember the engines of both the cars should be shut off.
Otherwise, it will lead to some issues. Here now you have to find the positive and negative
terminals of the cables. The car battery has two cables with positive and negative signs. Similarly,
jumper cable also has red and black cables. The red is positive while the black is negative.

4. Attach the Terminals

This is the most important step when it comes to jump starting the car battery. A single mistake
here can burn the battery or damage the engine. So always be careful at this stage. You should
attach one red clamp to the dead battery and the other to the working battery, in their positive
terminals.
Now you have to connect the negative terminals. For this, find the black clamp and connect it to
the negative terminal of the working battery. Whereas the other black clamp should be attached
to the bolt on the engine block. Make sure you have connected the clamp and terminals the right
way.

5. Start the Car

When you have attached all the terminals and clamps, it is time to turn on the working vehicle.
Turn it and keep it running for a few seconds. Do not turn it off. Now you should turn on the dead
battery car. It will now work and you have done it successfully.
After turning on the dead battery car, you have to disconnect the clamps. For this, you should
disconnect the black jumper first and then the red ones. This order should be maintained. If your
battery requires changes, you should find the nearest auto parts store to buy one.

Conclusion
For many drivers, it is a real issue when the battery is fine but the car is not turning on. This shows
the car battery needs a jump start that you can do with the above given steps.
