What is SDP?

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (SDP)


The objectives of the SDP are the following:

To produce graduates with:


1. Full competence in their fields of study
2. High regard to Filipino values, industry-desired values, and global citizen values
3. To enhance students’ EMPLOYABILITY and DESIRABILITY by industry after
graduation
4. To stress that the graduates shall have that winning mindset that shall make them
WINNERS, confident and ready to:
- face life’s challenges and
- make a difference

Module 1- Self-Awareness- CWTS 11 & 12

Module 2- Goal Setting- CWTS 11 & 12

Module 3- Values Development- Hum 003 Ethics/ Hum


513(Architecture)

Module 4- Developing a Winner’s Mindset- Seminars and


Field Trips/ Internship (if seminars/Field Trips is not
included in the Curriculum).

SDP Module 1:
SELF-AWARENESS
Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of the session, the students shall be able to:

1. Explain self awareness and its importance.


2. Identify personal abilities, skills, talents, and
weaknesses.
3. Prepare a plan to enhance their strengths and to
address their weaknesses.
4. Demonstrate self-confidence in dealing with academic
and life’s challenges.
WHAT IS SELF-AWARENESS?

 It is defined as a clear perception of your personality,


including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs,
motivation, and emotions.

 It allows you to understand other people, how they


perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in
the moment.

 Psychologist believe that people who have high


self-awareness are MORE SECURE than
people who are not sure of their capabilities
and gifts.

 McCarthy, A. and Caravan, T. (1999) study


showed that one of the keys to managerial
success is Self-Awareness.
WHAT IS SELF-AWARENESS?

 Silva, P. (2010) revealed that self-awareness is the


regulator of emotion. Self-awareness affect our
happiness.

 Duva, T. and Silva, P. (2002) predicted that


success and failure attribution are moderated by
self-awareness and by the ability to improve on.

SELF-AWARENESS IS AN ISSUE OF:

 Know yourself - This is a reality issue.


 Change yourself - This is a responsibility
issue.
 Accept yourself - This is a maturity issue.
 Forget yourself -This is a security issue.

 The Perception of Others – How they see you
THE IMPORTANCE OF SELF-AWARENESS

 It empowers you to make changes and build on your


areas of strength and identify areas where you would
like to make improvements.

 It helps you create what you want and master your


feelings, behavior and actions.

 It is often a first step to goal setting.

Limits and Limitations


 Limits are physical impossibilities in a person.
 Limitations are usually psychological barriers,
feelings of inadequacy, unworthiness, believing one
will fail-and they do fail.
 Activity 3: Write down the things that prevent you to
grow in life.
