Title: Crime has become a serious problem. How far do you agree with this statement? Give reasons to
support your view.

Crime can be defined as doing something that is illegal or breaking the code of law. People live in
fear and are even afraid to leave their houses. The rate of crime is increasing in Malaysia. Some people do
not want to work for the things they want so they think it is easier for them to take it from other people.
Crimes are divided into various categories depending on how severe the offense is, the age of the offender
and many other possible variables. Thus, I agree that crime has become a serious problem because of
several reasons namely; lack of religious education, social media influence and also loose of law
enforcement.

First of all, crime has become a serious problem because of lack of religious education among the
teenagers. Parents need to play an important role in educating religious education. In addition, the school
also plays a role in controlling crimes among students, for example religious and moral subjects in schools
can help to educate students to be more aware of their moral values. These subjects emphasize more details
on issues that promote and encourage good behaviors. Therefore, religious education is very important in
reducing crimes among students and society in our country.

Consequently, social media has become one of the causes for crime in this age. The PDRM force also
explains that their biggest challenge to tackle crime in Malaysia is from social media. Many unscrupulous
teens spread bad influence on social media that causes adolescents to participate in the immoral activity.
This is because parents do not monitor their children while using social media that causes them to do things
beyond expectations. Parents should take responsibility by monitoring their children while using social
media by looking at the Google history they are searching. In addition, our peers who are closed to us also
play an important role guiding teenagers to the right path. They should provide a good example to us as well
as to advise us if we are doing something that we will regret. It proves that parents and peers can play
important roles in combating crimes committed by teenagers.

Loose law enforcement can also result to the serious crime problems in Malaysia. One of the white
collar crimes is taking bribes. Taking bribes can free the criminals without getting any punishment. For
example, rich people who committed crimes can be freed easily because the authority taking bribes from
them. This may cause the crime rate to increase from year to year. The government should play significant
role by punishing the authorities who involved in the white collar crimes. Crime rates will be decreased if
proper punishments are imposed to those who commit white collar crimes.

In conclusion, all parties need to cooperate to avoid crime problems in many ways. Not only the
government that needs to take the responsibility to stop the crime, but it also our job to try to stop it from
effecting ourselves and our loved ones. We should be strong in our religious beliefs and not easily influence
by social media. We need to stick together to prevent acts that would frighten the public.
