Due Date: 10th Week of the semester
In a folder called “Assignment Papers”, you will find 8 papers that address
various aspects of Budgeting.

Required:

Write a two part-essay to:


i. critically review any four of these papers;
ii. discuss the budgeting practices in Sri Lanka with reference to a
selected company. (Word limit - 2500 words).

Please note:

 A critical review requires you to summarise and evaluate each paper.

 It requires you to read the selected paper thoroughly. It also requires you to
read other related papers/texts so that you can evaluate the selected paper.

 To be critical does not mean to criticise in a negative way. It requires you to


question the given information and views put forth by the author(s). It requires
you to evaluate the issues raised in a paper.

 Evaluation means presenting the strengths and weaknesses of a paper.

 Overall, writing a critical review involves analysis and evaluation.

Additional information:

 This is a group-assignment. Please organise yourselves into groups.

 Please make sure that names and student ID numbers of all group
members are stated on the cover sheet of your submission.

As this is a group assignment, each member of your group is awarded the
