What is rj45?

RJ45 is a type of connector commonly used for Ethernet networking. It

looks similar to a telephone jack, but is slightly wider. Since Ethernet
cables have an RJ45 connector on each end, Ethernet cables are
sometimes also called RJ45 cables.

The "RJ" in RJ45 stands for "registered jack," since it is a standardized

networking interface. The "45" simply refers to the number of the
interface standard. Each RJ45 connector has eight pins, which means an
RJ45 cable contains eight separate wires. If you look closely at the end
of an Ethernet cable, you can actually see the eight wires, which are each
a different color. Four of them are solid colors, while the other four are
striped.

Two types of rj45 cables

-straight through cable
-crossover cable

Straight-Through Wired Cables

Straight-Through refers to cables that have the pin assignments on each end of the cable. In other
words. Pin 1 connector A goes to Pin 1 on connector B, Pin 2 to Pin 2. Straight-Through wired
cables are most commonly used to connect a host to client. When we talk about cat5e patch cables,
the Straight-Through wired cat5e patch cable is used to connect computers, printers and other
network client devices to the router switch or hub (the host device in this instance).
Ethernet crossover cable
An Ethernet crossover cable is a crossover cable for Ethernet used to connect computing
devices together directly. It is most often used to connect two devices of the same type, e.g. two
computers (via their network interface controllers) or two switches to each other. By
contrast, patch cables or straight through cables are used to connect devices of different types,
such as a computer to a network switch or Ethernet hub.

Materials to use:
*Crimper-A crimping tool is a device used to conjoin two pieces of metal by deforming one
or both of them in a way that causes them to hold each other. The result of the tool's work is
called a crimp. A good example of crimping is the process of affixing a connector to the end of
a cable.

*Cable wire-is a single electrical

conductor, whereas a cable is a group
of wires swathed in sheathing. The
term cable originally referred to a nautical
line of multiple ropes used to anchor ships,
and in an electrical
context, cables (like wires) are used to carry
electrical currents.
*RJ45-RJ45 is a type of connector
commonly used for Ethernet networking. It
looks similar to a telephone jack, but is
slightly wider. Since Ethernet cables have an
RJ45 connector on each
end, Ethernet cables are sometimes also
called RJ45 cables.

Cutter-A cable cutter generally

refers to a portable, manually operated
device while cable cutting machines are
motor-driven and may utilize
microprocessors for programmed
cutting routines.
