OT Passage

▪ Operation Theatre Passage requires high level windows admitting

Natural Light into the passage

▪ Studies indicate majority of people prefer space illuminated by

Sunlight
Natural Lighting

▪ Natural Lighting is required in the following spaces.

▪ Operation Theatre
▪ Recovery Unit
▪ Waiting Room
▪ Staff Room
Finishes

▪ Finishes used in floor and wall should be

▪ Easy to maintain
▪ Clean
▪ Non infectious

▪ Based on the facilities in an operation theatre it can take various

forms maybe

▪ Square
▪ Rectangle
▪ Round
▪ Oval
Attachments

▪ Washroom

▪ Minimum width of 1.8 m / Operation Theatre with 3 non splash

wash basins with foot control.

▪ Sterile good room

▪ Roughly 10 sq.m with direct access to the operation theatre

▪ Size of 20 sq.m (approx.) with possible close access to the

opearion theatre

▪ Not required to be in close access with operation theatre

▪ Equipped with sink and storage surface

▪ For hygiene reasons plaster room is not located in surgical zone

but in out patient area

▪ Anasthesia Room

▪ Anasthesia Room size 3.8m * 3.8m (approx.) should have the

following features
▪ Electric Sliding door of 1.4m width
▪ Equipped with Refrigerator , Draining Sink and Rinsing line
Post Opearaion Theatre

▪ Post OP should have separate openings for entry and exit

▪ No toilets shouls be located in post OP area patients shall be
provide with catheters.
Space and Area

▪ Seating 8 sq.ft / patient

▪ Consultation Room – 150 sq.ft
▪ Examination Room – 80 sq.ft
