 BELIEFS AND PRACTICES

Their doctrine is based on Roman Catholic Teachings and Philippine

1 Nationalism as exemplified through the literary works of Rizal.

3 planned to be named Jove Rex Al, but the presiding priest said that it is close to
the name of Jesus Christ, the reason why it became Jose Rizal instead.

 BELIEFS AND PRACTICES

The birth and death of Rizal is considered one of the most important dates
5 that they celebrate. They call their celebration Misa de Tres (an elaborate
celebration of flowers, flags, and parades)

6 consider to be really important.

Their Christmas is on October 3 in which they believe that this is the real
7 birthday of Jesus Christ.

During religious celebrations they often wear shirts that are as

REQUIREMENTS

Anyone can be a member of Iglesia Watawat ng Lahi as long as you

genuinely believe the doctrines, teachings and beliefs of their sect.

The religious sects have chapters in different parts of the

country and abroad, a number have headquarters in Calamba
and in Quezon province at the foot of Mt. Banahaw.
REQUIREMENTS

FOR ASPIRING PRIEST

The Iglesia Watawat ng Lahi requires aspiring priest to study in an institution
somewhere in Bicol. Their priests are also allowed to marry after they have
served the church for at least five years. Sect officials are not paid and are
supported by donations by the sect's financially able members.
