it is necessary to use approved Cold Weather Fuels given in

2) If the aircraft has been cold soaked at temperatures below 4°C/ 40°F,
use an auxiliary power source (if available) for faster, more satisfactory
engine starts.
3) If the aircraft has been cold soaked at temperatures below -18°C/ 0°F
and a battery start must be made, preheat the engine fuel control area
and battery, if equipment is available and conditions allow.

1) Use of reverse thrust with the condition lever not in full forward
position is prohibited. At less than full RPM condition lever position,
Propeller RPM decay, engine overtemperature and loss of power can be
encountered.
2) Do not apply REVERSE power on contaminated areas when at low
taxi speed.
3) The power lever must not be retarded below flight idle at speeds
greater than 80 KIAS during landing roll.
NOTE
Unless needed in an emergency or to support a stop on a very low
friction runway, application of REVERSE power should be discontinued
below 40 KIAS.

For any indication of engine fire after shutdown, immediately do the

The pilot should be aware that during engine shutdown a short but strong LANDING
propeller thrust may cause the aircraft to move forward. Moderate
braking actions will prevent such un-commanded aircraft movement. AFTER

Ditching
NOTE:
Study the wind and sea surface. Make a plan of action for the direction of
the ditching manoeuvre.
Dispose of, or restrain any loose articles in the cockpit which could
create a hazard during impact. It is preferable to impact the water as
slowly as possible and under full control.
Do not stall the aircraft in. Keep wings parallel with the surface of the
water on impact, i.e. wings level in calm conditions. Ditching into wind
provides the lowest speed over the water and therefore causes the
lowest impact damage.
It is recommended to use TAKE OFF flaps. Flaps set to a medium
position ensure the slowest speed on impact. Flaps usually induce a
lower angle of incidence and therefore smaller aircraft body angle when
approaching stalling speed thus providing for a better aeroplane attitude
on impact.
One wing tip striking the water first will cause a violent uncontrollable
slewing action.
