Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 2

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. add 3 – digit by 2 – digit numbers with sums up to 1000 without
regrouping
b. add 3 – digit by 2 – digit numbers using short methods of adding
numbers
c. practice thriftiness.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Adding Numbers Without Regrouping
Reference: Teaching Guide for Mathematics Grade 2, pp. 61 – 66
Learner’s Guide for Mathematics Grade 2, pp. 40 – 42
Instructional Materials: worksheet, visual aids, pictures, flash cards,
number cards
III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill – Basic Addition facts using the flash cards.

Example:

1. 8 + 8 = ______ 2. 9 + 7 = _______
3. 4 + 6 = ______ 4. 3 + 5 = ______
5. 2 + 4 = ______ 6. 6 + 7 = ______
2. Review – “Do you know me?”

Instruction:
 Group the class into two small learning groups.
 Instruct each group to position in their learning station.
 Each group should have a representative to answer
every question.
 Ask learners to identify the value and place value of the
digits.
 The group with more number of correct answers will be
declared winner.

B. Developmental activities
1. Motivation – Story Problem (Posing a Task)
This is Leo. He put 234 peso coin on his coin bank last
Saturday and on Sunday, he put another 23 peso coin. Can
you tell the number of peso coin he put on his coin bank for
two days?

Teacher ask the following questions:


 Who collected empty bottles?
 What did Mark collected?
 When did he collected empty bottles?
 How many empty bottles did Mark collected on
Saturday?
 How many empty bottles did Mark collected on
Sunday?
 Can you tell the total number of empty bottles Mark
collected for two days?
2. Analysis (Performance Task)

 Present cut – outs of numbers.


 Let the learner’s show the number of empty bottles
Mark collected on Saturday and on Sunday.
 Present to the class the place value chart.
 Let the learners place the number to the correct place
value on the chart.
