5.4) EXECUTION

An approval of mix design of specified grades of concrete and trial mix shall be carried out
and the test result shall be submitted to the company / contractor for approval.
On approval, the mix design details shall be issued to the concerned personnel of the
concrete supplier for production. Ensure that prior to trial mix all the ingredients of concrete
including admixtures are got approved by the Owner / Engineer.

Marking shall be carried out for RCC walls, Columns, Pedestal &upstands over the
protection screed before commencing the reinforcement work. The prefabricated
reinforcement bars shall be laid & fixed with the required 75mm minimum cover as per the
approved RFC drawings. Erect the water tight formwork around the rebar’s, true to line,
plumb and dimensions in accordance with the RFC drawings.
.
250mm PVC Water stopper shall be placed in middle of periphery RCC wall kickers with
proper alignment& level. The joints of water bar shall be carried out by welding kit with 200
mm lap,and the construction joint locations are shown in the attached approved drawing.
Half of the water stopper shall be exposed from the top of kicker. The kickers for periphery
RCC walls and columns shall be 150 mm high and shall be cast monolithically with the raft.
Dowels for retaining wall, column ,transformer plinth,up stands, & staircase shall be checked

Adequate lighting shall be provided all around the base, and area near the concrete pump
shall also be provided with the light so that the banks man can guide and position the transit
mixer at right location. Also the concrete testing and sampling area shall be sufficiently
illuminated.

Wet the formwork just before the commencement of concreting and ensure that water is not
pooling inside the formwork area and the reinforcement & embedded items are adequately
secured to prevent movement during concrete placing.

On completion of inspection and subsequent approval by the Owner / Engineer carryout the
raft Concreting will be done by the pump with approved ready mix concrete of grade C40/20,
cement content 400kg/m³ (OPC128kg+GGBS240kg+MS32kg) and 0.35 water/cement ratio
with 125±25mm slump. While on the delivery of concrete at site an area shall be designated
near the pouring area for testing of slump, temprature and cubes will be made for testing as 6
cubes/ 40m³.The testing of cubes including durability test,12 Nos of cube samples shall be
taken for conducting durability test.We shall deploy sufficiant number of technician with
helper for this work.

Concrete pouring shall be done by 3 Pumps simultaneously, additional of one pump (1) as

spare.Pumps location are shown in the attached sketch and will be shifted during concreting
if required.Total estimated quantity for main building raft foundation is 1065m³.Pump
estimated capacity is 60m³/hr.Estimated concreting time will be Six (6) hours.Five (5)
masons and eight (8) helpers will be deployed for each as a team for each pump to
pour, compact, level and finishing of the fresh concrete on their assign zones. Each team will
be provided with 2 vibrators and 1 will be standing by.

Placing of concrete in horizontal layers and ensure that concrete will not fall freely for height
more than 1.0 Mts to avoid damage to shutter and displacement of top reinforcement. The
concrete shall be placed and compacted / vibrated in horizontal layers of not more than
400mm thickness each. Concrete shall be compacted with mechanical vibration equipment
to max practicable density so that it is in complete contact with the forms, reinforcement and
other embedded parts, the vibrator shall be operated by experienced personnel to ensure
that the concrete is well compacted and not over vibrated. While compacting the concrete, it
shall be ensured that the poker goes down at 100 to 150mm in the previously laid layer, so
that these two layers gets mixed up. Arrange interval between the batches shall be
minimized to avoid the cold joints. Concrete shall be levelled and finished as per the levels
indicated in the RFC drawings, the concrete surface shall be levelled using Aluminum
straight edge trowelled by wooden float if required. The finished level should be confirmed
through level instrument.

After pouring the fresh concrete immediately covered with polythene sheet to avoid the loss
of moisture.Ones the concrete is stiffened, polythene sheet shall be replaced with wet
hessian cloth and water cured for the minimum of 10 days.Designate a special work force for
the purpose of continuous water curing.
