These new social housing units are in addition to the social housing district built in 1922-1925 by architect Victor
Bourgeois

SITE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

• ONE PLOT IS LOCATED ALONG THE BEHEERSSTRAAT AND HAS 43 UNITS

• THE OTHER ONE IS ALONG THE DENDERMONDESTRAAT WITH 32 UNITS
• The entire district was planned by urban planner and landscape architect Louis Van der Swaelmen,
intended to promote coexistence and solidarity between people, as well as provide for their safety.

The Design Process

Buro II & Archi+I designed the project to strike a balance between economic, technical and social criteria while
