B. Presentation

“Very good observation! Now, let me

introduce you the Two Types of
Communication“The Verbal and
Non-Verbal Communication.

Can you read the title of our topic for today

again please?

Good job!

Okay now let us discover what is Verbal

Communication?

Who can read the meaning of the Verbal

communication?

Yes Ben?

• Verbal communication is the

use of sounds and words to
express yourself, especially in
contrast to using gestures or
mannerisms (non-verbal
communication). An example of
verbal communication is
saying “No” when someone asks
you to do something you don't
want to do.

Thank you.

Yes, it the use of sounds and words to

express our feelings. We talk to show how
happy and sad we are or to share our
ideas to other people.

Class do you often talk to express your Yes Sir!

feelings?

It states that verbal communication can

Yes it is!
contrast mannerisms which are
considered as non-verbal communication.
Is that possible?

Okay! It is possible! Like saying Yes and

NO with head movements. Yes Sir!

Another example verbal is what is

happening here in our classroom,
between the teacher and the students in
the classroom. More than 90% of class
instruction is done by means of verbal
communication; even if, electronic devices
such as computer, telephone, tablet, and
online facilities will be used, instructions,
procedures, and submissions on findings
will come through verbal communication.

Another example is during Religious

sermons: teachings in churches,
cathedrals, shrines, temples, mosques,
and other designated areas or sites for
religious activities. Whoever leads
communicate verbally, and the
congregation responds by thunderous
applause, a form of feedback. Prayers are
said verbally, and answers come verbally.

Now who can give me another example of Conversation between friends.

verbal communication?

Very good!
Yes Sir!
Okay! Now let us discuss and discover the
four types of verbal communication.

The first is Intrapersonal This form of communication is

Communication. extremely private and restricted to us. It
includes the silent conversations we
Who can read the definition please? have with ourselves, wherein we juggle
roles between the sender and receiver
who are processing our thoughts and
actions. This process of communication
when analyzed can either be conveyed
verbally to someone or stay confined as
thoughts.
Yes this type of communication is
extremely private. You will do the talking
and answering within you and yourself
only. No other person being involve in this
type of verbal communication.
• This form of communication takes

is thus a one-on-one

individuals involved will swap their
roles of sender and receiver in
order to communicate in a clearer
manner.
Okay Thank you!

Yes, intrapersonal Communication “is the

type of communication that involves
another person. You need to talk to
someone about something. For example,
you are talking to your mother, a teacher is
talking to his student. A one on one talk.

Next type is the Small Group

Communication.

From the words small and group? What do

you think is this type of communication?
It involves a small number of people.
Yes! Very nice answer! It deals with a
small group of people gathered together.

Read the definition please.

This type of communication can take

place only when there are more than
two people involved. Here the number
of people will be small enough to allow
each participant to interact and
converse with the rest. Press
conferences, board meetings, and team
meetings are examples of group
communication. Unless a specific issue
is being discussed, small group
discussions can become chaotic and
difficult to interpret by everybody. This
lag in understanding information
completely can result in
Yes! Sometimes it can lead to miscommunication.
miscommunication and also chaotic
because of misunderstanding of ideas.

Who can give me an example of small

group communication?

The last one is the or the last type is the

public communication.

What do you mean by public?

Yes widely known or you will going to talk widely known

to a wide or huge number of people.

Now who can read the meaning?

This type of communication takes place

when one individual address a large
gathering of people. Election
campaigns and public speeches are
example of this type of communication.
In such cases, there is usually a single
sender of information and several
receivers who are being addressed.
And now let us move to the non-verbal
communication.

Who has an idea about this type of

communication? Students will share their ideas.

We will be going to use gestures and body

movements when using this type of
communication.

Do we still need to use sound or voice in No sir!

this type of communication?

Yes
Are you sure?

Okay! let us further more know this type of

communication.

Who can read the definition

Okay! read it please Charles.

Communication without the use of
spoken language. Nonverbal
communication includes gestures, facial
expressions, and body positions (known
collectively as “body language”),

Although no word is used in non-verbal

communication, it can effectively
communicate many human feelings
more accurately than verbal methods of
communication.

In this type of communication, we will only

be going to use gestures or body
language and no words are being used.

Yes Sir!
Did you get the point class?
Good!

Now let us discover the 7 elements of

Non-Verbal Communication.

Who can read the elements?

Yes Anna.
Body Language

Eye Contact.

Voice

Touch

Facial Expressions

Posture

Proxemics
Thank you!

First one is the Body Language.

Yes, it is how are going to use your body

to show or express what you feel.

Next one is the eye contact.

We human being, we tend to look honesty,

loyalty not in those words we speak but we
look at it on the eyes. Your eyes are the
windows to your soul.

The third one is the voice we can also use

sounds in non-verbal type of
communication. Example here are gasp

And sigh.

Forth is Touch. Having a physical contact

to a person. An example here is a
handshake or a high five.

Fifth is the facial expression. The most

common thing that we do in
communicating using the non-verbal
communication is we change the look of
our face regarding to what we feel and
emotions.

Sixth is the posture. It shows how

confident and superior we are. The way
we stand, sit and position our body is very
important. We must behave in a way that is
intended to impress.

Last one is the proxemics. It means your distance

to someone. if you don’t like that person then
surely you will move far or away to that person.

Did you understand it all class?

Excellent!

C. Comparison

Okay. Who can differentiate verbal and

non-verbal communication?

Yes Sir!

Very Good!

C. Generalization
