The goal of Rennoissance Artist is to create figures that looked very real.

Michelangelo also painted God in full length, complete with kneecaps and toes
exposed.

Most Early Christian Art Simply represented God as a giant hand emerging from
heaven .

Now seeing the finish line, tackles the crucifixion of Haman which he painted in 24
days. This figure was the most beautiful he had created, but was also the most
difficult. He even went as far to create very detailed sketches for this one.

To conclude, Michaelangelo exerted a huge amount of influence upon artists of his
time and well into modern times, as well as supporting the humanist movement of the
renaissance through his sculpture and art. The renaissance period would have failed
to be as revolutionary as it was in Italy and the rest of Europe if he was not
apart of the movement. His impact on the renaissance influenced art and society for
centuries afterwards, well into modern western society today.

Although Michelangelo was not a member of the Mannerist movement they followed on
from the work that he had began. For example many see The Last Judgment as one of
the earliest Mannerist works.

One of Michelangelo's biggest followers was the painter Tintoretto who resided in
Venice. Like Michelangelo Tintoretto created mainly religious themed pieces. He
worked primarily for religious fraternities - groups that decorated their club
houses with grand pieces. Though, unlike Michelangelo, Tintoretto's early works did
not marry Christian art and Pagan imagery. His pieces wholly connected the gap
between the spiritual and ordinary, taking away the didvide between the natural and
the supernatural.

This was an innovative depiction of the creation of Adam. Contrary to traditional

artworks, God is not shown as aloof and regal, separate and above mortal man. For
Michelangelo, it was important to depict the all-powerful giver of life as one
distinctly intimate with man, whom he created in his own image.

Finding artistic inspiration from Michelangelo: A pilgrimage to Rome

In March, artist James Raczkowski, along with Mike Fusco and Kerry Thompson, set
out to create a 20.5 by 23 foot rendering of the Creation of Adam on a building in
Bay Ridge, NY. The occasion was that of Reconciliation Monday, when the Archdiocese
of New York, and the Dioceses of Brooklyn and the Rockville Centre collaborated to
encourage faithful to attend confession before the celebration of Easter.

Did you know that with Michelangelo changed the representation of God that until
then had a hand pointing down through the clouds? In the Sistine Chapel we can see
for the first time the reproduction of God with a muscular body and a long white
beard, in addition to being very similar to the Greek god Jupiter.

Did you know that the Creation of Adam is one of the most famous images of the
Sistine Chapel? It is located in the central part of the vault and represents the
Genesis story in which God gives life to Adam.
