Subject: ACTIVITIES AFTER THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDS AND BEFORE OPENING OF CLASSES

1. Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 25, series 2018 re : School Calendar for
School Year 2018- 2019 specifically Item No. I , page 1, the School Year
2018- 2019 ends on April 5, 2019. Opening of Classes for School Year
2019- 2020, however, will be on June 3, 2019 as announced earlier.

2. DepEd Teaching Personnel and Learners are therefore on their long


summer vacation starting April 6, 2019 to June 2, 2019. Their
presence in the school during this period is considered free,
voluntary and personal. School Heads of elementary and secondary
schools, both public and private schools are hereby directed to ensures
all safety and security measures in their respective school.

The following must be strictly observed :

a. No school activities for learners shall be done during Summer


Vacation since there will no longer be teachers during this period to
supervise these activities unless such is part of the Summer Classes
pursuant to DepEd Order 25, series 2018.

b. School Heads are advised to inform their teachers to refrain from


requiring their learners to go to school when such is not sanctioned
by the school.

c. All schools with installed Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras


must be checked if the same are still functional ; assess for
additional cameras to be installed. Schools with no CCTV should
prioritize installation .

d. Schools are also encourage to partner with the Municipal or
Barangay Local Governments for police visibility or Barangay tanod
assistance.

e. Should off-campus activities be done which this office could not


sanctioned this Summer Vacation, everyone is advised to :

- Ensure proper planning


- Conduct pre-departure orientation and other similar preparatory
activities
- Ensure safety measures (medical, health, and dietary)
- Conduct post activity report
- Ensure the necessary arrangements for travel insurance are
secured

f . All other measures that are deemed necessary to achieve the


purpose of ensuring and securing safety in schools.

g. School Heads and other Non-Teaching Personnel should secure


authority from this office before leaving their respective office.

3. Teachers transacting business in the Division Office this Summer


Vacation are NOT required to present their locator's slip unless on
official business duly sanctioned by their respective school heads.

4. Teaching Personnel designated to non-teaching functions such as


Disbursing Officer, Bookkeeper, SBFP Core Group, and of similar
situations who are required by their School Head to perform their
functions during Summer Vacation must be clothed with authority to
do so and shall be entitled to service credits pursuant to DepEd Order
53, series 2003 entitled Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation
Service Credits to Teachers.

5. Classroom Teachers designated by the Schools Division


Superintendent as Teachers In-Charge (TIC) are required to write the
Superintendent whether to avail accrued leave or service credits for
services rendered during Summer Vacation. Failure to do so will be
treated on service credits only.

6. Teaching personnel who rendered services during the 2019 Brigada


Eskwela on May 20-25, 2019 shall be entitled to service credit
pursuant to Item No. 10 of DepEd Memorandum No. 36, series 2019.
Non-Teaching Personnel shall be entitled to Compensatory Overtime
Credit for services rendered on May 25, 2019 (Saturday) based on
Item No. 9 of the same memorandum.

7. Teaching Personnel who participated in the Oplan Balik Eskwela are also entitled
to vacation service credit per DepEd Order 25, series 2018.
